I'm sorry about your loose, my older dog died yesterday (Jan. 2) of natural causes. So I know exactly how you feel. The best way to find another dog is to go to

www.petfinder.org to try to adopt one through a shelter/rescue
another option is to go to www.akc.org and find a breeder that might breed mix dogs.

2 months ago before my older dog died I adopted a dog that I saw on petfinder.org and went the next day and adopter her (which I felt is really luck since there were three or four applicants who already applied). Good Luck.

Do you know why your puppy died? Did he have diarreah? Vomiting? Lethargy? Before bringing a new puppy into your home, you should know whether or not your puppy died of parvo. If he did, then your home will be contaminated with the parvovirus, which could infect another puppy. If this is the case, your home needs to be thoroughly disinfected...and then you might wait a while to get another puppy. The parvovirus can live for a long while.

First, take some time to grieve for your dog. Don't rush out to replace it.
Second, don't try to 'find one like it'. If it's too much like the previous one you may have expectations that the puppy will be just like your last pup and that's not fair. it's a new puppy and deserves to be appreciated for it's own qualities. It shouldn't have to live in the shadow of your previous puppy.
Third, go to petfinder.com or check your local shelter. There are puppies out there who will be killed because there are not enough homes out there. Be kind and give a needy pup a chance.

I'm sorry for what happened, but yeah, never get a dog right away after someone special is gone.take some time, try to get a puppy later.like everyone said, a new puppy can never take another puppy's place.find something you want, something you like that is unique and love about.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss.

If you're ready for a new pet I urge you to adopt from a shelter or rescue in your area.

The best place online to find the shelters and rescues in your area is http://www.petfinder.com

At petfinder you enter your information and it will tell you what pets are available through various rescue organizations in your area. Through petfinder.com I found a rescue in my area that rescues pet rats, and have adopted from them before.

Don't look for one like it, dogs are irreplaceable. Go to the pound and take home whoever you fall in love with.

Maybe you should take awhile to mourn. Replacing your dog so quickly is bad for your mental state of mind. If your son/daughter died, would you go adopt one to take his/her place?
