Has anyone had a brown recluse spider bite there horse? If so what did it do and did it have a bad odder?

The vet has been out they dont know what it is.But it just crossed my mind it could be a spider bite.That is why Im asking to see if anyone else has experienced it and what happened and what they did.

I have accually seen a person that has been bitten by one of these nastly littl e critters, The allergic reaction all depends on the animal or the person bitten! If you vet has already been out then you have done the right thing! I would watch the bite and if there are any changes for the worse then re-call your vet. Other then that just keep it clean and moniter your horse! Good luck

Browns are poisonous. I suspect you know that. Depending on where the animal was bitten ... the animal may get sick and vomit. It will likely void it bowels. The animal may become listless. The wound will fester and the flesh rot. Rotting flesh has a odor.

These types of spider bites are nothing to mess around with. The bite will burrow deeper and deeper into the skin, causing it spiral inward and cause a larger and larger hole on the outside as it goes deeper and deeper into the skin. You need to have a vet see your pet IMMEDIATELY!!!

If you feel your horse has been biten by a brn recluse, it is best to call your vet ASAP.
