I'm looking to adopt a cat soon. I've always assumed male cats were the most affectionate. Are female cats affectionate with female owners? I've only owned male cats, but never a female.

we have a pair that love to jump when you get home.now grandma lives with us and it causes sores.these cannot be the only dogs that do this. please keep in mind this is something she has to deal with sometimes alone. tyvm for your help.oh and no we are not getting rid of our babies!

Our 13 week old kitty all of sudden today is not moving her hind legs she tries to stand on them for sometime and then seems she loses movement in them. we are going to take her to ER if she doesn't improve within the hour

when we are playing, sometimes she will put her paw on my hand or arm.
she will also wag her tail a lot.

we have a female dog that has been in heat and think she is pregenant although not for sure. Shejust lays and is tired all the time, kind of grouchy with the puppy we have, and dont want to be messed with alot. Her teats are swollen although have been told thats not really a sign, her vagina is swollen also, her coat is fuller and brighter and she doesnt eat alot although seems to really go through the water.

Is it possible for a recently neutered male to successfully sire offspring if he has activly bred a female within 48 hours of being nuetered? One of our males after being nuetered, shook off all anesthesia and went back to "work"....before we could stop him. I know both testicles were removed, but is it possible for there to have been residual sperm in the tubes after surgery....or do I have to wait till said female begins to pink to be worried?

my baby kitty died 4 months ago. he was my only family besides my mom. i'm so devastated, i feel like part of me died with him. i raised him and bottle fed him since he was a couple of days old. he was with me though everything growing up. i feel like after he died my youth went with him, that whole mentality that "nothing bad will ever happen to me". it kills me to go home and not have him waiting for me. or every time i cry he'd jump up on my lap and kiss my face. i miss him sooo much. my heart and soul is dying without him. i feel like my son died and even now i see him everywhere, standing in the window or sleeping on my couch..i think about him constantly. i've been thinking about getting a kitten to ease the heartache, but i'm always at work when the humane society is open, by the time i get off it's already closed. i wish my partner would surprise me with a kitten, but i know it's silly of me to have expectations. next month i'll also be in school. would this be fair to a kitten

I found an injured kitten (approx 4 - 5 weeks old) that was in very bad condition - couldn't use its front legs. I took it to a local vet to see if anything could be done. She looked at it (no x-rays) for maybe 5 minutes and determined that it had a spinal injury and could not be saved. I agreed with her that it should be euthanized to put it out of its pain, which she agreed to do. I was very surprised to find a bill at the front desk for $125 and questioned if it could be a mistake. Apparently it was not. I paid, but I am very angry that someone could profit from a situation like this. I would think that to go into this field, a person would be an animal lover. I can understand paying costs, but not a gouging like this. I am curious what the 'standard' practice is in this type of situation for other vets.
