I'm considering going for my CDL and do the OTR for a year, but I'm wanting to take my doggy. I was just wondering if any company drivers get away with it or just owner/operators.

There are plenty of companies that allow dogs. You can pick up magazines at truck stops that have tons of companies who are hiring and just start calling around and asking.
You may even be able to find one that offers the CDL training as well.

Good Luck!

my hubby is a OTR trucker he has been both company and owner operator,it is all up to the company you drive for, they have to have a pet policy you may need to sign some paper work to have your dog be in the truck and possibly pay a fee to let the dog ride with you in case it damages the truck in anyway but if you look on the net at trucker jobs a lot of them will state if they allow pets in company trucks and what their policy is on that...also just so you know if you own your own truck you can use your dog as a tax write off as an alarm security system and if you have a dog with you in the truck you are allowed to keep your truck idleing in places there is a no idle policy because a dog needs to be kept at a certain temperature as not to die of heat stroke in a hot vehicle so that is a benifit for both you and the dog

My Mom was a truck driver for almost ten years, with different companies. Her pomeranian accompanied her in each and every one of them. I'm fairly sure most companies will accept a "small" dog quicker than a "large" one. Best of luck on your test and travels!!!!!!!!!!!!

The companies would rather you have one than not because they would warn you if trouble was coming. Just train them not to tear up the inside of the truck or piddle in the rig.

great canines as they are amazing with the countless issues they do, they are no longer nippy in assessment to small canines, they are each and every so often humorous and greater playful. some human beings are petrified of huge canines it is extremely stressful as they are nicer than smaller canines..

Many places are now allowing pets to travel. Don't be worried. I have attached something that might help with traveling.
