I got a baby diamondback terrapin from a friend. The turtle has not yet completely lost it's yoke sac ( only a tiny shriveled line) and is not eating. It is probably five days old, but I'm not sure. I treated it like a typical baby turtle and set it up with a 2 gallon tank of water, gravel, fake plants, ect., and am feeding it ReptiMin turtle food, but it does not seem interested. When should it lose it's yoke sac, and when should it began eating? Please help! I have never had a turtle that small! It is a bit smaller than a quarter.

Just a poll for information: How much do you know about vaccinosis? Have you done any research and considered the repurcussions for your own pets? What is your opinion of the argument?

We went to the vet today and asked her the same question and she said she definitely should be able to. The only doubt in my mind is that she said my puppy can hold it for 6 hours, but we would be crating her for 8 (the family is big on sleeping. haha).

Will she still be okay? She's a small breed puppy, Sheltie/Bichon mix. We crate her during the day, which has worked extremely well, but we ruin all the training by putting down puppy pads at night and generally giving her run of the downstairs when we're home. We're trying to be more consistent without crating her all the time yet with as few accidents as possible.

I have 10 cichlids in a tank and do weekly 25% water changes, dechlorinizing the water and adding salt accordingly. I recently noticed that two of my fish have begun to twitch uncontrollably sometimes, are very lethargic in movement, seem to be gasping for air and are eating quite less. Any idea what could be causing this? My other 8 fish are large and healthy. I recently added 2 Chinese Algae eaters.... things seem to have started then...any advice would be appreciated.

I have a 9 week old Golden Retriever who sleeps in his crate by our bed. I've had him for 3 weeks now. He sleeps in our room so we can take him out when he has to go in the middle of the night. He can pretty much sleep through the night now, but 9 weeks still seems kind of young to move him into the living room. Trainers have said "younger dogs" should sleep in the room with their owners, and "older dogs" can be by themselves. When do they become "older"? I don't want to stress him out, and him being in the room isn't bothering us, but I also don't want it to become a dominance issue, which I know it can.

I have seen alot of people on here asking about certain purebreds or mixes and they seem to get more critisizing than they get advice. Yes, a Morkie, a Puggle, a Poogle and any other mixes breed are mixed, but if that is what a person likes then isn't that their right? I am sure that these people realize that they are getting a mixed breed dog, but maybe they want a mix of two certain breeds. Everyone has to realize that when someone makes a decision to get a dog, it is their decision. They cant be insulted or critisized into getting one from a shelter. That is their own personal choice. They are the ones who have to shell out the money for the dog, pay vet bills, and provide that dog a home. I decided that I wanted a Siberian Husky, but I wanted one that I knew where it came from, what its parents looked like, could call the breeders if I needed to. That is why I went to a breeder and not a shelter. The people getting these "mixes" have the same rights. Why do some not agree?

For those that have one give details about yours. For those that don't have one and want one tell me if you think you are up to caring properly for a ferret and why you think you are responsible and any other thing to do with ferrets.

Someone told me that the chewing would taper off around the time they were 2 years old. We've spent a fortune in chew toys, but they prefer the good stuff....like furniture, clothing, tiki torches....etc....

So is 2 yrs the magic number for this to end? Is this pretty much the truth or does anyone know different....?

My mom thinks its cute that her cat wakes her up in the mornings by pawwing at mom's face. I think the cat is just testing to see if she's alive so the cat can eat mom's eyeballs. What do you think?
