-k- loves, I went to a lake over the weekend a found a bunch of cute little tadpoles, which I brought home. What should I feed them? Would I feed them normal fish flakes?

you need to feed them natural creek or pond vegitation. Moss or anything of that nature. Things you buy at a grocery store could kill them because of the chemicals that are sprayed on them to kill insects... try to make their home as natural as possible by adding small moss covered creek rocks and such...

"Tadpoles thrive really well on flake goldfish food. Every year I take a small amount of spawn out of the main pond and rear it indoors. I feed these tadpoles with flaked goldfish food. They hatch a lot faster than the tadpoles left in the pond. I keep them in the house until the tadpoles in the pond hatch. I then put the indoor tadpoles back into the pond and continue to feed them goldfish flakes each day. The others in the pond soon learn that it is food and you soon have a black squirming mass of tadpoles around the edge of the pond whenever you feed them. Several pinches disappear in seconds. Do not be tempted to add more - wait until the next day. "

Most tadpoles are vegetarian (as most people have told you) but some are carnivorous .... as I found out the hard way once when i caught several different ones and one type began eating all the others. and for those besides smaller tadpoles i dont really know what to feed them.

I agree with what Ricky said. I used to breed Green Tree Frogs in my backyard pond and we'd boil up lettuce to make it nice and soft for the tadpoles. If you need to store the lettuce, and to save you cooking it all the time, put some of the boiled lettuce in water and make ice cubes and drop one into the pond/tank every day.

They really like Spaghetti with meat balls. French bread and a nice green salad with Italian dressing. Ice Tea followed by Spumoni Ice Cream and you've got some happy tadpoles.

I in basic terms had to place 2 of them returned into our pond after having them some 3 hundred and sixty 5 days (my teenagers stumbled on them and placed them in the tank) in a 20g. Mine thrived on fish foodstuff and a few algae whilst they might discover it. i stumbled on that they ate alot like a pleco and definitely did a good job cleansing the tank. one element although, be prepaired for whilst they get their legs and their tail is going away. they'll circulate heaven & earth to flee. In my journey it became out to be a hardship in the top, yet they constructive are exciting to computer screen on the same time as they're transforming into & changing.

Boiled lettuce. My stepson brought a couple of them home from school at the end of the year and we checked it out on the internet.

Oh, now, you seem like a sweetie that likes animals...go and put them back in that lake right away...they'll have a much happier life and they'll love you for it!

Plus you won't have to worry about what to feed them!
