I think they go up to the top of the tallest trees. That way their bodies are not eaten by prowling animals. While they are up there they get a death grip on tiny branches and hold on as they die. The only ones that you find on the ground are ones that a cat was eating and they did not get a chance to fly up to their final resting place. [Fish do the opposite by the way - they try to get as deep into the water as possible.]

I hope that this answer is on the same level of intelligence as your question.

Normally they just either crash land and lay there and die or go some where and setdown or lay down and die. The ones on the ground are eaten by dogs, cats, ants or what ever that finds them or they lay there and just go away over time. The ones that die in flite or high places are normally eaten by larger birds.

Is that what you was asking?

Are you asking where they go when they think they're going to die? That's up for grabs. They usually want to stop standing, so they go somewhere that they can sit: a nestbox, a hideout, or the bottom of the cage.

If you're asking where they go when they die, I can't tell you. I'm not good at soul questions.
