I thought this was a interesting question, so I googled it... this is what I found.
Apparantly they would make good pets, but it's illegal to have them.

I don't think so, but try getting a humming bird feeder. But if you're not interested in that you can always go to a wild life shelter and see if anyone brought in a humming bird that needs to be rehabbed. The result?
You can rehabilitate it until it can be on it's own and most of all it's legal and second it only just a temporary 'pet'

Humming birds are wild animals, wild animals don't make good pets. You wouldn't want a crow or a blackbird as a pet. Just because it is pretty an little it doesn't mean it makes a good pet. Birds have diseases just like people. People make birds sick, don't touch them unless you have to.

I wouldn't think that would be possible. If you love them, i would just do what another person said, you can buy inexpensive feeders and make your own solution with sugar and boiling water. (4 parts water to 1 part sugar) I usually boil 4 cups of water in a clean pot and then remove from stove and add 1 cup of sugar, stirring till all sugar is dissolved. Once cooled add to the feeder (preferably the glass ones, easier to clean than the plastic ones) and hang from a tree near a window or porch so that you can watch them. they are fascinating. (if you have leftover sugar water, just cover and put in fridge up to 5 days)
I wouldn't suggest trying to get one as a pet. As i said, they are amazing animals and have a migration pattern, ours should be leaving early september and wont be back till next year. they are such a beautiful animal and dont deserve to be caged! Good luck

Have you ever seen a hummingbird for sale in a petstore-illegal for one and the bird will die in captivity. NO. If you attempt to catch one you are breaking a law and there are large fines to pay and also considered animal abuse

If you like hummingbirds, I'd suggest going to your local garden store & buy a hummingbird feeder. It's really nice to watch them every day as they dance around the feeder.

Not unless you have an aviary with lots of room. Better to have a couple feeders and enjoy them wild.

I'm surprised that hummingbirds don't live in the fourth dimension. They're just not our speed. It isn't worth trying.
