My mom thinks its cute that her cat wakes her up in the mornings by pawwing at mom's face. I think the cat is just testing to see if she's alive so the cat can eat mom's eyeballs. What do you think?

Although ol-wives tales mythology accuses cats of stealing babies' breath away from them while they are sleeping I would guess its a cute playful gesture intending to let your mother know its time to either feed the cat, let it outside, love it, play with it or do some other thing that the cat cant do itself. so yes...its cute.

Most likely seeing if your mom is awake, not to eat her eyeballs but to make sure it gets fed. And if not then it will eat your moms eyeballs first.
