No more than one kind of dog. It can't be a mix, for I will post that question shortly. Not the dog you have, your favorite. If at least one of you follow that rule then you will get best answer. If none of you do, I won't choose anyone. And if all of you do, I will choose someone with my favorite kind. If one person answers this question then they are winner by default. Ready, let's start.

We are bringing our horses home soon and we need to make a shelter, we are trying to build quickly but we dont know what we want. We dont want a full barn but just some kind of run in and some stalls and a feed/tack room. Do you think it would make since to get a 2 car garage and put in panals(like arena ones) and make stalls with them and block off the other side and have that the tack/feed room? What do you think are good fencing options we dont really want electric because if they break through they would be in the road.

Seriously, I'd like a pet. My landlord does not allow dogs (I'm more a dog person than a cat person), so I have caved in to the notion of adopting a cat or kitten. HOWever, I tend to have a light allergic reaction (sneezing, but nothing crazy) to cats and was wondering if there was a breed of feline that might be hypoallergenic? Oh and I don't want a hairless cat! :)

My husband and I adopted two kittens last week (8 weeks old, neutered, have all their shots). They were both so playful and energetic all week, eating their food quickly and taking a small amount of time to sleep during the evening hours when we were around to play with them. During their first weekend with us (when we were both home and free to play), one of the kittens became very lethargic and sleepy, lost interest in playing most of the day, and started to eat less than before. He loves to be petted more than ever now and just wants to sit on my lap, mostly licking my fingers and arms as he relaxes. I do hear him running around a bit while we sleep at night, but his overall activity level has gone down a lot, especially as compared to his brother, who is just as active and hungry as before. Should I worry and / or take him to the vet or this just a case of disturbed and switched sleeping schedules?

I own 3 dogs and a cat. the only male dog that i have is very agressive towards a dog that i want.

This dog is a dog that we found when we moved into our new house last yr. we kept it through hurricane katrina found its owners and retured it. its owners didn't take care of it then had to move and couldn't take him. They gave it to the people that they live with in a small trailer park just 4 days ago. Since then our next door neighboor is the one that has been feeding him because the people at the trailer park wouldn't take care of him. He broke his chain and came to our house where he knows he will get food and attention.. We want to keep him but my male dog wants nothing but to attack him.... I have tred some basic techniques but they haven't worked..... He will kill this dog if he gets the chance....

Please help me!

I have a german shepherd puppy who since she was 3 months old her back legs would sometime go to the side when she would run. She is now 5 months old and still does the same thing except but not as much. she doesn't have any signs of pain, and our vet quickly checked her and said she is fine. So I am just wondering if I have anything to worry about hip dysplasia?

My puppy is on Frontline Plus, and does not seem to be bothered by fleas. We have wood floors in most of the house where he plays, but do not use harsh cleaners. I first noticed a problem when he would drag himself across the ground with his front paws. He does this in the grass, and also on the bedroom carpet. He scratches fairly often, but seems to tolerate it well. I saw a similar post suggest a salve of vaseline douche powder. Any other suggestions? My fiance is trying to book a vet appointment, but I would welcome any advice that might get the poor guy some relief. Thanks.

I have two cats that eat out of one anothers bowls so I need to feed them the same cat food. One is a kitten (9 mos) and the other is an adult cat (6 years). I am currently feeding them Purina Kitten Chow & it's giving both cats VERY loose stools that have a horrendous odor. It gives the kitten horrible, horrible gas. Yes, it's funny to read but not when you have to live with it. Any suggestions on a good healthy cat food that they both can eat that might help the dirreaha/odor problems? Please don't suggest Iams, I refuse to buy from a pet food company that mistreats their animals they use for testing their food products.

Thanks for any suggestions you have!!

She has no problem chasing after the frisbee when I throw it, but when I throw it to her she keeps waiting for it to land before picking it up.

This would be even better if I could get her to jump-catch a frisbee, but that's not as important. I've just been wondering, is this simply a coordination thing, where some dogs can do it and some dogs can't, or do I have to train her a certain way?

WHAT ABOUT YOU

2006-07-31 06:05:55 · 11 answers · asked by Kikyo 1 in Other - Pets

As part of my housesitting stint, I'm to walk the two dogs. I really don't mind at all. The other day I was walking along and I noticed this teen with his dog. The dog was taking a crap. Then they just walked on by.

This irrititated me. Here I had some bags in my pocket for when one of mine did the deed. Ready to pick it up.

I also had a water bottle and two cups for the dogs to stop and get some water along the way. Nothing else really.

What do you take with you when you go for a walk with your dogs? Do you take treats? Water? Something to clean up their poop?
