As part of my housesitting stint, I'm to walk the two dogs. I really don't mind at all. The other day I was walking along and I noticed this teen with his dog. The dog was taking a crap. Then they just walked on by.

This irrititated me. Here I had some bags in my pocket for when one of mine did the deed. Ready to pick it up.

I also had a water bottle and two cups for the dogs to stop and get some water along the way. Nothing else really.

What do you take with you when you go for a walk with your dogs? Do you take treats? Water? Something to clean up their poop?

I take treats, water, bowls, cup, poop bags & a snack for me. I pack my backpack. I used to travel a lot with my dogs. I would always take my dogs walking at the same times everyday and explore the area as much as possible.

t really depends on the length of the walk. If we are at home (we have 4 acres) I don't bring anything except self & dogs.

As to the dog poop, I pick up my dogs poops. Sometimes, especially in camp grounds, if you have dogs then every dog turd must be yours. So, I find myself picking up other dogs poop also. If it is right by my dogs poop; what the heck? Why not make the world a better place. Anger does nothing, action does.

If I go on long walks I bring a water bottle... I only bring poop bags when I am walking in town...otherwise I leave the poo because it is in the bush where nobody walks, along with all of the bear poop!! lol

Really though leaving it on the ground on a sidewalk or someones yard is rude!! Around here though I prefer to go in the woods anyway, and I do not go on human walking trails..just animal trails. That way I dont have to pick up the poop because it is in the bush!

PS you have to understand where I live...honestly where I walk is in the wilderness. There is nobody else to step in the poop!

GOOD FOR YOU TAKING CARE OF THE DOGS!!!!!!!

I live in a neighborhood with sidewalks (most of the neighbor hoods are old w/o sidewalks). We have a beautiful St. Aug. yard...except for the dog poo in the yard every morning!
THANK YOU FOR CLEANING YOURS UP!!!!!!!!!
I wish other pet owners would do the same...I also hate the people who just let their dog out front to do the business (they stay in the house, and let the dog run for 1/2 hr)....that is so DANGEROUS...that is what a fenced back yard is for...we have had a dog hit (not killed, but broken leg and lots of cuts)...in front of our drive...took 2 hrs to locate owner, and we were on our way out the door for a dinner date with friends when it happened...we were late.

In the 5 1/2 yrs that we have lived in our house, only one person has picked up poo (they actually did not have a bag, but rang the doorbell and asked for something to pick it up with).

YOU NEED A RAISE!!!!

I take plastic bags to pick up after them and bottled water. I have trained both of mine to drink from the bottle eliminating the need for a cup or bowl. I don't take treats or food. Sometimes mixing treats with water with exercise makes them throw up.

I take some treats and my dog never poops in other people's yard...I dunno why, he just never has. But I do carry a little baggie just in case. I have a little doggie "canteen", it fits over my shoulder and has a detachable bowl on the side to pour the water it. Its really niffty. I got it from petsupplies.com a few years ago. They also have cool baggies for the poop that will hold in moisture and smell. I love taking small treats b/c he likes to "show off" and sit, speak, shake, roll over, "dance", and play dead for the kids that might be playing outside.

Keep water in the car ready for when we get back. But I carry poop bags with me. Its just common courtesy to pick up after your dog.

I take ample bags (one of my dogs is a serial pooper--he'll poop two or three times on one walk), my pouch of treats, the clicker (dogs are clicker-trained and we often stop to do a quick training session on their walks so they get used to doing their commands when there are distractions around). On longer hikes I take their collapsable water dish (our park has water fountains in it, so I don't have to take our own water).

I have poop bags attached to the leash, because they are easy to forget. I also take along treats, because my puppy is learning to deal with other dogs and distractions during her walk.
