My husband and I adopted two kittens last week (8 weeks old, neutered, have all their shots). They were both so playful and energetic all week, eating their food quickly and taking a small amount of time to sleep during the evening hours when we were around to play with them. During their first weekend with us (when we were both home and free to play), one of the kittens became very lethargic and sleepy, lost interest in playing most of the day, and started to eat less than before. He loves to be petted more than ever now and just wants to sit on my lap, mostly licking my fingers and arms as he relaxes. I do hear him running around a bit while we sleep at night, but his overall activity level has gone down a lot, especially as compared to his brother, who is just as active and hungry as before. Should I worry and / or take him to the vet or this just a case of disturbed and switched sleeping schedules?

Yes, take him to the Vet. Could be a variety of problems.
Is he still "pooping" in his box? Does it seem healthy?
If he has stopped eating and pooping he could have a blockage, from some object he may have ingested. He could just be sick. I really don't know that much about cats, but the things you describe seem to warrant a call to the vet, or a visit to the vet.

First of all I highly commend you for getting them neutered..... Neutered indoor cats are so great! I have 2!

Id keep an eye on him for a few days, and if things dont change, Id call the vet tell them exactly what you just wrote in here.... This isnt really normal behavior for a kitten... They are usually very energetic.....

I would take him to the vet although they can be neutered at 8 weeks they would not have finished their vaccines as they are given til the cat is 16 weeks of age. But any change in behavior especially not eating and lethargy are signs for a concern.Do not let the purring fool you cats will purr even if they are mortally wounded as it is an appeasement gesture to potential predators not necessarily because they are happy.Good Luck, let me know.

YES GO TO THE VET HE MAY BE SICK or have a life threatening disease. Time is preciouse. But it could be that he is just a little depressed and getting used to his new environment. But don't take the chance and go to the vet ASAP!

I would take him to the vet. A drastic behavior change in an animal is NEVER a good sign.
