My friend has a saddle-shy horse. She got kicked when she tryed to saddle her so the weighted saddle factor is ruled out. I've tried to get her use to my weight by sitting on her back but I keep getting thrown. What should I do?

Do you think, if the vets had a service a bit like the NHS services, there would be so many unwanted, stray animals roamimg the streets?
I know that the PDSA, RSPCA and more organisations help pay vet bills if you claim benefits form the Department of Working Benefits, but usually you need to register with the charity before you need the vets, otherwise they wont help towards the cost of the bill. I had both my dogs insured, and after 5years of never using the insurance, i cancelled it....but a few months later my golden labrador had an emergency cesarean, costing £815 which i had to pay even though im a single parent but i hadnt applied to the pdsa 1st! i paid it weekly, which i dont mind cos i love my dogs.
Some people are given an animal, without considering how much it might end up costing, then if it needs the vet & there is no money to pay the bill, the animal suffers,or often dumped, tortured or just killed! If there was a free service would there be as many stray animals?

Last night I took my dog for a walk at the Nature Trail at the State Park. I noticed on the way to the car that he had picked up two ticks. When we got home I removed them both (I made sure to get the head too) and gave him a bath. Could the ticks have still infected him? We went to store and bought some Frontline so he won't get ticks anymore.

well my theory is as we evolved from cromagnum and many think the less brilliant neaandrithal died off but as evolution took place neaandrithal gained more hair and became starved since they could not or were afraid to go into towns so they feasted on travelers and wild animals so i come upon these theorys because of the greek mentioning werewolves in the ancient olympics i come upon this after about 6 months of reasearch and genetically proving that neaandrithal today would have a wolf like appearance please answer my question i am an expert in myths and thought to be myths

I need to find out the average weight of my stallion. I looked it up but I found out that the average height of throughbred horses is 15-16 hands high. My stallion is 2 hands bigger than average.

I care for horses and theres this one 18 year old quarter horse who REFUSES to put a halter on. Its like a horsemans nightmare, a horse out at pasture that cant be worked with. He can be bribbed to the fence, and in the begining could be bribed into a halter with a carrot, (worst idea ever, but thats the way he came).

He's in perfect health, great flesh. He's a dream with his feet, picks them up and holds them entirely on his own when you touch them, very very responsive to voice commands once he is haltered. He has no other vices that i can find.

he is the dominate horse between him and his older pasture mate, and cannot be separated from him at this point (since i cannot get him haltered to work with him). both havent been ridden in six years, although i did get him haltered and saddled when he first came in and he went directly into work mode, so i know i wouldnt take much to get him squared away.

I dont have a round pen to work him in either, which is a MAJOR pain.
