insure that water is always clean (on extra food floating around)and airy (never green) :-)
********************************************************
WATER CHANGES
Changing 45%-40% of water every week is very importand, because of the large amount of waste they produce and the oxygen they use. When replacing the water it should have been let to stabd overnight for release of toxins in the water (lead, Chlorine, etc) You should also use Nova-Aqua once a week to help replace the electrolytes. Next a detoxifier should be added everytime you chnage the water. I recommend "Amquel", it gets rid of toxins and also doesn't turn the chlorine to ammonia
FEEDING
The best food seemst to be PRO GOLD.
1. Flake food= fish go to the top to gather the food which creates air in their swim bladder
2. Pellets+ There are 2 kinds, one is sinking which isn't to bad, but they have been known for mistaking rocks for the food
3. Floating food=and we run into the same problme as flakes
Even though goldfish LOVE to east they should be only feed once a day or once every two days. The reason is the food is digested very fast which means more waste is the tank and more clean up for you
Further, if you use pellet foods, its better if you will soak it for a minute first to avoid the food to expand in teh golf fish (this way the food absorbes the water by itnesf and not risking hurting goldfish)
Gold Fish LOVE their food and you can try also the following (but a little):
Fresh: Romaine lettuce, Peas cookes, earthworms, eggs, cucumber, insect larvae, grapes, oranges, and spinach
and dry: flake, pellet, tubiflex, krill, plankton, brine shrimp, blood worms, spirulibna, and daphnia.
*********************************************
It is so nice that you want to take such a good care of your fish, I hope they can have babies one day!!!
Check for breeding details and temperature changes, and you will be on your way to have a new little family!! (they only breed once a year AFTER the cold water changes warm: figure this:-) spring time :-)
BEST OF LUCK

Goldfish can live for up to 20+ years if taken care of correctly... The longest lived to 43 years of age... Koi can live even longer... http://www.goldfishinfo.com/goldlife.htm... ... They are not beginner fish like people assume... They will quickly outgrow a bowl... 1 goldfish for every 20 gallons of tank space is a minimum when it is fully grown (will happen faster than you think)... Fancy goldfish do stay smaller though... I have a feeder goldfish that was bought about a year ago for 28 cents that is now 12 inches long in a 29 gallon aquarium by itself...
Do regular water changes... put them in a larger tank before needed... they are messy eaters and produce a lot of waste... keep the water cool (my 29 gallon has no heater)... try and use goldfish food, not tropical fish food... they look similar, but you should really try to feed them with the proper foods for their diet...
Important info below...
Don't forget when doing water changes to use the proper water conditioners... for my goldfish... when he / she starts looking ill, I use a little aquarium salt that can be found in walmart and petsmart (very cheap)... just follow the directions... I notice big improvements when adding it with the water changes also... when it looks listless like it is having medical problems, the salt improves gill funtion, ect... Do not use table salt....
Not all fish are tolerant to salt... goldfish are fine though...
Hope this helps...

They are things that can only be discovered after hundreds and hundreds of trials. And of course, strict restriction needs to be in place. However, because the basis of science is always changing due to new discoveries, we need to also have sympathy to the drug company as well. They are not miracle makers, they only try to make profits by selling something that they "think" might help other people. Imagine the world without antibiotics and other medication, how many people would have to die? If we agree that science can be changed, the drug company might not have an excuse of increasing medication prices because of law suit. Also if we look at any other area that has used the socialist system it has bogged down and failed to live up to its Utopian promise. No system is perfect but open and free market is the best out there.

Get a pond. I am getting tired of goldfish bowls and explaining how cruel they are. Fancy goldfish need 15 gallons each. A common can grow to over 2 feet, so a pond is not a luxary but a necesity. Sorry if i sound like i am blaming you, i am just frustrated that people make these, and that people buy them, and fish suffer because of them

don't keep them in a dark room or else they will lose their colour.
never keep any fish like the red cap or some other species with it or they'll bite off the tails of the gold fish.
avoid worms for the food. it becomes messy for u and the gold fish.
have fun!!

make sure they have water at all times!!! That is the most important rule, otherwise they could die from thirst. Dont have too much water in the bowl, or they could drown
