squirrels den and live in a variety of places depending on the weather. Mostly they live in hollow tree's that they have chewed entrance holes into or modified woodpecker nest. During nice weather they may actually bachelor in the branches just hanging around. Those leaf nest you see in the tree's are shelters used for rearing young once they are old enouph to leave the tree den, they move them occasionally from leaf nest to leaf nest also food storage and temporary shelter. Some squirrels also tend to get a little closer to humans by living in your house or barn,especially city breeds.

In trees, or any other warm sheltered area. I've heard of squirrels living in people's attics and walls because it's warmer.

Well thy can live just about any where here in Arkansa are squirrles live in houses,roofs,barns,holes in a tree,nest,or in sum form of hole were ever thy like to make it.
