No not really. However, a bowl tortures fish. A goldfish grows to over 2 FEET. How big is the bowl? like 5". Right now you are forcing the fish's body to stop growing, while the organs continue.; Guess what happens next. Also, a bowl has almost no surface area for oxygen exchange. A goldfish has huge requirements for 02. Therefore, don't be surprised if the fish die before their typical 50 year life span.
If you like goldfish get a pond or keep fancies in ratio of about 15 gallons per fancie, with way overfiltration, and frequent(weekly) large water changes.

No it shouldnt be covered all the time. Since there probably isnt a filter or pump u need it to be opened to keep fresh air hitting the water. Yea its helpful to keep the tank dark at night so they can get some sleep:-P

No, just make sure the water is kept in good condition. If you have cats I would put a screen lid on it but other than that goldfish have no prefrence to light and dark.

Assuming there's goldfish in it, it doesn't matter. They shouldn't be in a bowl anyway... Get a proper sized tank, like, 50g, use the bowl for a nice plant.

A nylon net would keep the fish from jumping out. No it does not have to be dark for your fish to rest.

that shouldn't be an issue. If the room gets dark naturally that should keep their cycle just fine.
