"a South Korean who has lived in the U.S. most of his life"? Was the guy South Korean or American? AND, if he was American, why go to all the trouble of pointing out his visible minority status/ birth in another country? AND, why don't they do this with EVERY criminal? e.g., English bank robber who has lived in the U.S. for most of his life?

It is our right. We should never give it up, but I can understand and sympathize with both sides of this issue. What do you think?

I am Korean myself and when I heard about this incident I was devastated and felt a little ashamed to be Korean momentarily. And I was also worried what affects my country and those Koreans living in the US may have. I would like to hear your opinion.

P.S. I sincerely grief for those lost and injured. I am stunned by this incident and wish this had never happened. It's worst than a nightmare.

Just hours after a student at Virginia Tech went on a killing spree that claimed 33 lives Monday, speculators began snatching up domain names related to the shooting.

Dozens of people registered sites like vatechbloodbath.com, virginiatechmurders.com and blacksburgmassacre.com through companies like GoDaddy.com and Enom, Inc. Several of the names went up for sale on eBay later that day.

Shouldn't we be in the streets trying to make sure this is the last school shooting, by changing the laws on gun control? Making sentences tougher for illegal guns? Offering more support for people who are victims of such tragedies? Somebody talk to me here!

Media outlets setting up camp ON campus (which can still be considered a crime scene, BTW), putting as many students as possible on-air for interviews, broadcasting AT and DURING the candle light ceremony.

Are they being too intrusive!?

The media reported that it was a chinese foreign exchange student. Then a south korean student. But actually, he immigrated with his family when he was 8 yrs old and grew up in the states. Culturally, he's an american. Legally he's an immigrant.
The media is misleading us by continuously saying he's a South Korean student when he grew up here. This can lead to racial hate crimes towards Asian-Americans. Some of his victims were asian, but the media doesn't emphasize this enough. There was no racial bias in his killings.

Even now VaTech students of asian ethnicity are traveling in groups in fear of hate crimes. We're talking about americans (born and raised) who are asian walking in groups in fear of racial hate crimes. Already a chinese alumni, wrongly mistaken to be the killer, received hate emails.

I'm completely shattered by what happened at VaTech. I haven't felt like this since I lost my friend on 9/11.
My prayers go out to the families and students.

The first two shooting was at 7:15 which resulted in 2 deaths, the second was purely massacre at 9:45 and resulted in 30 deaths, why didn't they evaculate the Campus with all that time? Do they think door locks are bulletproof or something? This also proves that they were not prepared for this even though something similar happened in the past at other schools

i find there no point in this korean guy to kill 33 people and then kill himself. All the people that were shot were shot at least 3 times......most in the head..
This sounds like a horror movie!!!
How bad is security getting.....especially for schools.
What's your opinion?
