I guess it depends on if you are the attacker or the victim:)
Taking away guns isn't going to make us any safer. People will still find a way to harm others.
Just like if you take away ALL illegal drugs, addicts will still find a way to get high. Basically, people are going to do whatever they want, and will use whatever resources are available for them to do it.

Another terrible shooting has happened and it’s sad for the families and the victims as well as the community and country as a whole.
The real question should not be whether we are safer with or without guns in America but how to identify and control mentally ill persons in an open society. Fact you can not stop a person with intent, if someone decides they are going to kill a person or persons no one or no law can stop them. So if you could magically take all the guns away…would no one be murdered today? Not likely! Before the invention of guns murder still happened, guns have just made it cleaner. Imagine a sword fight to the death, body parts hacked off, guts ripped from the belly. Is this what we want to go back to, medieval times with dagger slashing and poisoned food? Bottom line guns don’t matter either way when it comes to the intent to commit murder, the murderer will find a way, so please stop blaming guns and start putting the guilt where it belongs…on the individual committing the crime.

This is not the question you should be asking? You should ask your self along with America Why we Keep making Excuses for sick freaks and the people that raise them? Stop making this story about guns. They did not facilitate this person his whole life, Guns did not look the other way when he displayed the person he was. Guns did not make sure he had a Nintendo and all the latest... fill in the blank, with out holding him accountable. Was he ever in his life held accountable for his actions? ****, I would lay money down to say his whole life he was handed one EXCUSE after another for everything he was.

With or without guns there will still be psychos running around commiting awful crimes. I mean let's say there were no guns, well what about the psycho that makes a bomb. Taking away guns isn't going to make us any safer.

I have two weapons, a shotgun and a pistol. I've had them for years, and neither has been shot in years. But I do clean them, and I do know how to use them.
But I am not mentally ill, and would only use them as an absolute last resort attempting to protect myself or my family. Do I feel more secure having them? Yes, I certainly do.

If the shooter would have been stupid enough to enter my home I would have been able to defend my family with my weapons. I know that there are all kinds of variables but my chances are alot better with them than without. It's like the seatbelt laws, people sometimes die when wearing thier seatbelt but the chances of living are increased when you do wear it.

Gee, I don't own a gun. Let's post this question to the local gangs in the hood and don't forget the police. I don't feel any less safe.

Without them. The less harmful weapons in circulation the less harm to be caused.
