After the spate of doctor related terrorist involvement in the UK, they have revised their screening process to look into the backgrounds of foreign doctors seeking to practice in the UK. We have many doctors in this country who are from Arab and Muslim countries. Are we doing enough to make sure that we are safe from terrorists? This may be a sad part of the world in which we now live ie. we have to worry about our doctors being safe.

... including a large truck bombing Saturday that ripped through an outdoor market and buried victims in rubble.

The U.S. military on Saturday also reported that six American service members were killed in fighting in Baghdad and western Anbar province over two days, reflecting the increased U.S. death toll that has come with the new offensives."

I also watched a report on the "hidden" victims - those who are injured in these attacks, many of whom are children who lose at least one limb. The prosthesis makers are working overtime.

Now Australia is also coming under the gaze of the terrorists because of our PM's devoted support for Bush.

How many more deaths and maimings? What will it take to make Mr Bush realise he is not John Wayne and this is one fight the guys in white hats are not going to win?

Anyone have any realistic ideas as to how this tragedy might actually end?

Latest Update - Gerry's Blog/Diary

Day 64 - 06/07/2007

The major development today was the arrest of a 39 year old Dutch citizen in Eindhoven for attempted fraud. The man had sent six e-mails saying he knew who had Madleine and where she was. He was demanding €2million for this information. After being arrested he has admitted he did not have any information and was motivated by boredom and trying to extort the money.

This arrest, after cooperation between the Portuguese, British and Dutch police forces, sends a clear message that this sort of crime is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. It also encourages Kate and I that all information about Madeleine coming through to the police in any European country will be taken seriously and rigorously evaluated.

And could it lead to others who have been jailed for neglect, for leaving children alone,( such as the Mothers who were jailed because their kids died in a hotel fire, when the Mothers left them alone to go out), to appeal their sentences based on the fact that the McCanns arnt even being found guilty of neglect?
Or, if cases in the future are brought, would the McCanns case be used by the Defence to argue that their client shouldnt be jailed?

Also, if the McCanns ARE ever brought to justice for this, would they have to pay back all the fund money raised, because English Law says you cant "Profit from a crime", and these 2 grubs have definately done that?

that climate change is so serious and people care not apart from poor Al Gore and Bill Clinton. It is said it will hit all countries/ lands with temperatures above 25 degree celsius. One expert said the first flashes could be visible in Africa up to the lower parts of Europe ; has even gone far to say with precision if this happens millions will die.

Is this accurate journalism by saying most of the US wants the president impeached when only 1000 was polled...from a group based in New Hampshire..?
http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20070706/pl_afp/uspoliticsbush

I dont know...Has anyone ever actually been "polled"?
I have never met anyone that has ever been called by any of these "poll groups", and one needs to take into account that the 1000 was people not signed up on the "no call list", or had actually signed some kind of agreement with the company to be polled...I'm not sure that accurately represents the entire US.

note for angry democrats..please notice the question is asking about the accuracy of the polling numbers, and questioning the accuracy of the journalist..not your opinion on the war or how many things you can come up with to have Bush fake impeached..

I was on Ebay looking for my son a cell phone......

When I came across a "lady" that has bought 66 cell phones in the last month. She has bought them at various auctions , in lots or as singles. Price doesn't seem to bother her just that they are all the same model.

Can someone give me a reasonable answer for this behavior?
Am I just watching to much news coverage? I am not trying to be paranoid but this does seem strange to me.

** I kept seeing her nickname while checking the feedback of sellers. It seemed weird to me but I thought I would ask .....

They say that 45 percent of American want to impeach Bush.
Gee I don't remember taking that poll, they did their
study by the private New Hampshire-based ARG canvassed 1,100 Americans by telephone July 3-5 and had an error margin of plus or minus three percentage points. The findings are available on ARG's Internet site.

I don't call that a study esp when its from New Hampshire and is on the internet.

when their Koran tells all followers of Islam to kill people?

"Fight and slay the pagans wherever you find them, and seize them, beleaguer them, and lie and wait for them in every strategem (of war)."
-Surah 9:5

"The Punishment of those who wage war against Allah and his messengers, and strive with might and main for mischief through the land is: execution, or crucifixion, or the cutting off of hands and feet from opposite sides, or exile from the land: that is their disgrace in this world, and a heavy punishment is theirs in the hereafter."
-Surah 5:33

"Oh you who believe! Take not the Jews and the Christians for your friends and protectors: they are but friends and protectors to each other. And he amongst you that turns to them (for friendship) is of them."
-Surah 5:51

"The Jews call 'Uzair a son of Allah, and the Christians call Christ the son of Allah....Allah's curse be on them: how they are deluded away from the truth."
-Surah 9:30

"Body Tells

Fidgeting and awkward hand movements are also thought to be signs of deceit - the assumption being that when people are lying they become agitated and this gives rise to nervous movements of the hands. There is a class of gestures called "adaptors" which consists of actions like stroking one's hair, scratching one's head or rubbing the hands together. When people tell lies they sometimes feel guilty or worried about being found out, and these concerns can cause them to produce adaptors. This tends to happen when the stakes are high or when the liar isn't very good at deception."

Stroking the hair etc? Now watch this..

Why do people have to be killed in order to stop or counteract something that can't be stopped like terror. You simply can't completely stop terror as long as there is one person who has a voice or opinion contradictory to what is the norm.
