Day 64 - 06/07/2007
The major development today was the arrest of a 39 year old Dutch citizen in Eindhoven for attempted fraud. The man had sent six e-mails saying he knew who had Madleine and where she was. He was demanding €2million for this information. After being arrested he has admitted he did not have any information and was motivated by boredom and trying to extort the money.
This arrest, after cooperation between the Portuguese, British and Dutch police forces, sends a clear message that this sort of crime is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. It also encourages Kate and I that all information about Madeleine coming through to the police in any European country will be taken seriously and rigorously evaluated.

Happy Mercia, exactly my thoughts! Why is he only mentioning Europe, Madeleine could be anywhere....guess he and Kate only want to travel Europe!

With the best will in the world what does Gerry McCann expect. Almost every major police investigation has been bedevilled by hoaxers. Look at how many hoax calls were made to police and newspapers during the IRA caimpaigns.
Gerry McCann seems to think that hoaxes relating to the his case are unique. Unfortunately they are not and perhaps he should have realised that by inducing so much world wide
publicity that hoaxers could not be avoided. There is no need for shock horror about this Gerry, sadly it is par for the course.

Well Gerry and Kate committed a crime themselves for neglecting their own children. I don't see anything being done about that. And all the money they got, isn't that fraud also??? I mean it was suppose to help find Madeline and it ended up helping to fund themselves, which explains why Madeleine wasn't found. Things are very seriously out of control.

Most crimes are unacceptable,any damn fool can figure that out Gerry,He also mentions "Any European Country" that must mean they either don`t take seriously police reports from elsewhere in the world or that they know for certain she is still in Europe.Are they suggesting that if a confirmed sighting of the child in (say) Algeria would be instantly dismissed? There are just as many stones to be upturned there as in any European country.
This family have saked for a world wide search but will only listen to the European police forces,What a couple of *****

The McCanns are the worst type of parent being guilty of child neglect at the very least and not being at all apologetic for their deplorable actions.
They deliberately and repeatedly left their children alone in a strange house in a strange country (we only have their word for this or is that just another lie) whilst they went drinking with their "friends" so at the least they are by their own negligence complicit in their child's disappearance and as such should be arrested, charged and if found guilty punished.

They seem more concerned with their fund than finding their daughter, that's all they talk about! i'm quite amazed Maddie was mentioned once in today's blog!

It is the McCanns who should be arrested and charged with child neglect, then once that has been done, we can then concentrate on finding Madeleine. Of course the parents know what has happened to her. It is too obvious.
