Given that thunder cloud base is about 5000 feet, then at a distance of 40 miles they would appear to sit on the horizon,so if an Africa storm is 500 miles away, the curvature of the earth would render the storm invisible. Sounds like fetid scaremongering that is all too common these days. Global warming has been gently going on for the last 4300 years and will continue for the next 8000 years before it starts to revert again. There is a generation of people out there who are reaching middle age and have just discovered daylight and fresh air,to find the world has changed in the last 25 years.

Doubt it. Unless it hit something like a nuclear plant or stored nuclear weapons even then I think it unlikely due to the fact that weapons are not armed until they are about to be used and so a lightening strike would not set them off. Nuclear power station I thin k the thing would shut down before a really major leak. So your answer is It is remotely possible but unlikely. BANG

I think that's unlikely in our lifetime, but global warming should be taken seriously. This is not solely a natural phenonmenon. Since the industrial revolution, the polar ice caps have decreased. More people have cancer & respiratory problems than ever before in history. People need to wake up. The corporate giants are only worried about their profits today without any consideration for future generations (including theirs).

I don't believe anything grennie gore tells me. Not all nor even most of them not even 50 percent say this will happen. Notice they never tell you who nor exactly how many this "MOST" is. Grennie gore is a politician and somewhere in this he is going to put your money in his pocket while he is doing exactly what you can;t with what you can use.

I know its quite scary, i watched Al Gore's film the inconvenient truth and it actually scared me so much that i now try to be More Eco friendly. I think more people need to watch that film and actually realise what we are doing to this world.

sounds a little hard to believe.
Sounds like scare mongering waffle, which devalues all true factual stuff.
