I'm on a barrier island ( Cocoa Beach ) and the last forcast puts Ernesto between Orlando and here tomorrow evening. We have provisions, candles, coolers, cook stoves, hurricane lamps, beer, flashlights, Rum ;-), extra batteries,
ect. ect,... we're all ready to "Hunker Down" but....

What would YOU do? Any experienced "riders on the storm" out
there? Advice? Recomendations? Warnings?

I'm kinda looking forward to it, Hurricane party and all, ya know?

Who else thinks that sensationalized news stories like this, that end up going nowhere and are forgotten in a matter of days, are merely a diversion to the real more pressing problems in the world? I personally, think these are all carefully planned to be a distraction. What do you think?

I ask this because I am trying to piece together all these news articles, video clips, etc. Some show or describe people looting stores filled with a lot of bottled water while other clips show people at the Superdome with no stockpiled water at all.

Was there enough water available in stores, or was it all cleared out prior to the storm? Did the populace prepare themselves well enough, or do they have a hand in the death toll? These are questions I don't ever see asked by the media.

Thank you for your information... hopefully some confirmable statistics if you can (better chance for Best Answer).

look, i'm not some doomsday prophet, but i really am curious about this global change in weather patterns we've been experiencing lately. drop in temperatures, influx of tornadoes and typhoons, freak disruptions of marine ecological patterns etc. i'm curious enough to want to write an article on it.
i'd like to hear of any freak weather patterns you've experienced/heard/read about. if possible, link me to any article/website that might help.
also, it would be cool if i could get some input regarding what you think about the connections between the weather and uh...the end of the world. haha- cue: nervous laughter :p

I think John Mark Karr looks totaly guilty. He looks pshycho, they have his conversations recorded and emails of the crime. Why isn't that enough proof?? Their better be justice in this crime. Who else is to protect us and give the justice that is deserved? I feel there wasn't sufficient justice in this case. If the parents did it they are going to pay for their crime, if not from the people in badges from the man upstairs. All crimes are punished.

Any idiot could have told you a category 5 hurricane would be the end of New Orleans. We knew what would happen, they knew what would happen, and only idiots and stubborn old people could have possibly been killed by it. It did some damage. Big Deal! So do potholes but we don't have to hear about them every day. I guess I should just quit reading the news.

What are your thoughts about everything that is going on in New Orleans? The development that is not taking place or should I say the slow pace that things are happening. The racism that is being talked about. The celebration of Mardi Gras. The comment that Barbara Bush made while visiting the Astrodome "So Many Of The People In The Arena... Were Underprivileged Anyway, So This Is Working Very Well For Them"...
