So come on and let me know, should I cool it or should I blow!
I'm on a barrier island ( Cocoa Beach ) and the last forcast puts Ernesto between Orlando and here tomorrow evening. We have provisions, candles, coolers, cook stoves, hurricane lamps, beer, flashlights, Rum ;-), extra batteries,
ect. ect,... we're all ready to "Hunker Down" but....
What would YOU do? Any experienced "riders on the storm" out
there? Advice? Recomendations? Warnings?
I'm kinda looking forward to it, Hurricane party and all, ya know?

UPDATE 8-30-02 5P.M. - 2100 U.T.C.
Tropical storm Ernesto.
Latitude 27.6 N. Longitude 80.8 W.
Moving N. @ 14 M.P.H.
(That puts it about 50 miles south of Cocoa beach. Do the math.)
HEAVY RAIN!! Wow! About 5 inches in less than an hour! Incredible! This is just a tropical storm. I can only imagine what a full fledged category 1 hurricane is like. So far so good. We have seen 35 M.P.H. winds, with gusts to ? Still have power, which is strange. We lose power in afternoon thunderstorms sometimes. Minimal damage so far. Some tree limbs down, loose shingles blowing around, ect, but nothing serious. Heavy rain! Just got back from the beach. The surf is about 6 to 8 feet. Pretty impressive considering it's normally about 4 feet at the most! Heavy rain and wind! The surfers are having a blast! Suprizingly there is a noticeable absence of thunder and lighting. Heavy rain! Did I mention the HEAVY rain? Wow!
More later, Tim.
P.S. They tell me the worst is yet to come!
