There are lots of hurricanes. They do cause damage and make a mess. Katrina did suffer alot of damage from the hurricane, but the levees breaking is what made it the disaster that it was.

No time. It will reach landfall in FL. too soon. Only when a Hurricane enters the Gulf, does it have time to strengthen over the warm Gulf waters. Sometimes the damn things stall and gather strength to a 5.
The "fly ins" are able to determine the strength.
The most damaging Hurricanes occur in September.
Galveston Island has "never" experienced a Hurricane "before September".

its not even a tropical storm anymore! its a tropical depression. winds only 20-30 mph Katrina was a level 3 hurricane!
