Today, in far too many places around the world, children are suffering and dying. We turn our backs or avert our eyes because, I suspect, they are not "our" children. Their race or ethnicity is different than ours. Their religion is not ours.

I grew up in New York City in a neighborhood in which almost everyone was Jewish and of German or Polish descent. It would have been everyone except for me and my family. I was the lone non-white, non-Jewish child.

Ruben owned the local candy store and soda fountain. He was a Holocaust survivor who had lost his entire family to Hitler's killing machine. He had his concentration camp tattoo to prove it.

I was at work going getting breakfast like any other day when i saw fire engines passing by & was wondering what's going on & looked up & saw one of the towers in flames. I didn't even know the first plane hit yet & just thought it was an explosion of some sort in one of the floors. I said a prayer for those in there & went back to work. I saw a crowd around my co-worker with his small tv on & i saw it on time to see the 2nd plane hit the 2nd tower. Only then did i finally realize what was happening. The rest is all history. :(

It's now above $75 a barrel and that's like a whole lot of money for crude oil. But Hurricane Felix did not threaten many of the oil rigs. I don't see another named storm coming up yet. What is the deal here?

Last year we hit a record of $79 a barrel for crude oil, let's not do it this year.

As for torturing and murdering the dogs that were unfit to fight, she said, "For many people, dogs are sport."
My question is, do you agree with her statement?
Personally, I find it mindless and idiotic. There is no excuse for what he did, and I find it insulting that she uses his origins from the south to defend him. I also believe her way of thinking is so horrible, that she can excuse his behavior, and go as far as to defend him!

Why is it that people like Carnial Mohoney of Los Angeles Calif. allowed to tell people how to vote and how to break the law by being here illegally and stay here as well as alot of other topics. But mainly how to vote and also goes as far as campaigning for a person, and yet the federal goverment does nothing to stop it?

This whole dogfighting thing is ridiculous. Its getting so much coverage, and its so trivial. I think it all boils down to a black man who's in the national spotlight doing something that people frown upon. If he had been a millionaire (not billionaire) oil tycoon or something like that, the story would be buried in the backpages, he'd get a suspended sentence, and you'd never hear another word about it until he died. I just think the NFL, the league of boozers, killers, and abusers was WAY too hard on Vick for an offense that happens everyday, everywhere.

Today we opened our first Arabic speaking PUBLIC SCHOOL! Does anyone seriously think this is O.K.? Does anyone seriously think that Islam is not going to be taught in this school? Has our goverment not been digging it's heels in on the so called separation of church an state since 1948? What, does this only apply to Christianity? He knew this was a crime in the US and had a nationwide dog fighting breeding program and a dog fighting ring on his property. However, dog fighting started deep in the South with gangs and now is all over the US and is still a gang related activity. What should happen to him? You answered ¨Freethinker¨ that the U.S. wasn´t in Iraq at the time of the Twin Towers Attack. Of course not. What had Iraq to do with Bin Laden? Nothing at all!
However,we,the U.S.A. have unfairly and unremittently given our full support to Israel for half a century and backed their theft of Palestine from the Palestinians(both Muslim and Christian!!)with our military might and a colossal amount of money for years. Israel can do no wrong;the Palestinians can do nothing right. THIS is why we are hated in the Arab(Muslim) world. Terrorism is NEVER justified but, given our foreign policy of the last 60 years or more,the Arab and Muslim world have NO reasons to either like or trust us. We are reaping what we have sowed.
We are screaming about Iran getting nuclear weapons but Israel has had them for years and we haven´t batted an eyelash. Israel and the Apartheid gov. in South Africa were hand in glove,exchanging nuclear secrets, and we never had a problem with that !
