I was at work going getting breakfast like any other day when i saw fire engines passing by & was wondering what's going on & looked up & saw one of the towers in flames. I didn't even know the first plane hit yet & just thought it was an explosion of some sort in one of the floors. I said a prayer for those in there & went back to work. I saw a crowd around my co-worker with his small tv on & i saw it on time to see the 2nd plane hit the 2nd tower. Only then did i finally realize what was happening. The rest is all history. :(

I was still asleep secondary to California time. My sister who lives in New Jersey called me to see if I had heard the news. When I turned on the tv I thought it was movie special affects. Then my sister told me our nephew was on the 101st floor of the first tower and no one had been able to contact him. As the days passed, his parents went to New York looking for him. They found his body in the Armory and he was shipped home for burial. The family joined a group of other people who had lost someone that day. They call it Peaceful Tomorrows. It's still going strong today, but there will always be an empty chair at the table.

I was at work doing landscaping when I saw a group of carpenters not working, just standing in a group. This seeming unusual I went over and asked if this was a union meeting. Then they informed me of the hit on the first tower. I went and told the rest of the crew. We turned on the radio in time to hear of the second plane. We took off early that day and I went to a place to watch the coverage of the day's events. T4

I had just finished driving kids to school (I am a bus driver) and when we got back to the garage, another driver's husband called her and told her what was going on. I rushed home and turned on the news and watched in horror as the first tower collapsed. I cried for everyone involved and had to go back and drive kids home. We weren't allowed to tell the kids anything and couldnt play the radio. Some of the kids knew that something bad had happened because a lot of the teachers had been crying. I told them that something had happened in New York and that they were safe and I hugged them all as they got off the bus. Proud to Be an American became our bus-anthem and we played it every day and they all learned the words..We still have American Flags on the bus windows. No matte what your political affiliation, The United Stated was truly united in that hour of darkness and I really loved George W. for the way he handled the crisis.

I was on the west coast and was just waking up when my dad called me to tell me to turn on the tv. I am in the travel industry so all the planes being grounded was a huge deal. Although I still feel sad for those who lost loved ones on that tragic day, I am thankful to everyone that helped make sure more people didn't die. 9/11 could have been a lot worse. My prayers to the families as this sad day approaches again.

A friend from work called to tell me to turn the tv news on. I sat on the edge of my coffee table in disbelief at the first tower burning when the second tower was hit.......
I thought the first one may have been a terrible accident, but the next one made it abundantly clear we were under attack.
That pissed me off.
I also remember thinking how much it sucked to be GWB at that moment in American history.
Remembering that time cements my resolve to support the war against Islamo-Fascism and put down the nay saying Leftists.

i know what you mean. i was at my laundrymat in kenvil, nj, walking in with a load of laundry, and there is the lady that owns the place, transfixed in front of the tv with her cell phone in her hand. i saw the second plane hit the towers, and it looked so awful, i didn't even realize it was real, and i said "what kind of movie are you watching? what is this?" and she turned and just gave me this shocked look and said this is really happening they are bombing the towers. it was surreal. later that day you could actually see the smoke in the air and we are like half an hour to forty minutes outside of t he city. i will never forget that for the rest of my life.

At my home in Southern Nevada. One of my daughters called from Ohio and told me to turn on the TV. As events unfolded that day I prayed that two people I knew were safe. I was sadly disappointed when I learned they were on the plane which hit the Pentagon.

well before i get into where i was and wat i was doing- in regards to redshirt- i think as Americans, or people in America, should watch the tapings every year on the anniversary to remind us what those horriffic monsters did to our Land of the Free, and Home of the Brave!

i was in 6th grade- i didnt watvh the news before school, so i got there and kids were talkin bout it, but i had noo idea wat they were talkn about. there were teachers trying to keep everyone clam in this moment cuz it was total chaos- we got out of school early and when i got home i still didnt understand the complete story or level of alert. i knew that bad people did bad things to my country and i thought we were next- i cried and cried cuz i thought they were gunna kill my momV i never prayed soo hard in my life- asking for forgiveness for everything i had done- that i could recall- i really thought we were gunna get blown up cuz we were soo close to chicago-

well now you've heard it- i thank God for this country that he has given us, and i continue to pray for the men and women that are fighting for us now, and that have given their life to the greater cause. GOD BLESS AMERICA- AND I HOPE NO ONE EVER FORGETS WHAT HAPPENED THAT DAY WHEN THE WORLD STOPPED TURNING!
