The United States has more bombs than any other nation and is the only nation to use an atomic bomb on human beings.

This is a philosophical question, which not intended to be an affront to Americans in any way. I'm genuinely interested in what people think.

I think you have a legitimate concern there. I do think the US should be present in any such meeting, but I don't know if they should necessarily take a lead role. It would be nice if more nations got involved and took on the role of world police from time to time.

With the knowledge the US possesses over nuclear usage it can use that information to clearly lay out the pros and cons of how Nuclear technology can benefit the world or eliminate it. Russia and China are near parity with us but they have ulterior motives where Nukes are concerned. China needs not worry about other countries because they have the manpower to take over the world if they ever decide to do it. France and a few other countries have a good working knowledge of commercial nuclear technology but are lacking in the total picture.

Yes, I think we can lead it, because we have the most bombs therefore the most to negotiate with. We just need to be serious about lowering the levels of bombs and help the UN force new countries not to develop a nuclear capacity.

If not the US, then who?

Certainly not the UN. The UN can't decide on what to have for lunch.
