It is uplifting and inspires hope to see so many intelligent outspoken atheists online. As I look at this forum and others, I see a groundswell of awareness about the horrors and evil of religion.
I notice that is true in daily life too. Whenever I get the chance to talk to people about it, more and more are admitting that they have questioned the whole issue of "faith" and rejected it.

This question isn't about whether or not either philosophy is best, so please don't argue for or against faith. I am just curious if anyone knows WHY we see so many atheists making their voices heard online, but not in mainstream media?

The Israelis forget what that old warmonger Yahwe said about promising them the land in return for slaughtering there neighbours and they buy a small country like Moldova or bit of Africa or The Ukraine. Then they all move there and give the Palestinians back their country. And everyone lives happily.

...can anyone please explain why so many people were quite happy to unquestioningly believe that the Moroccan family in the photo were guilty of kidnap and child-peddling, without any shred of evidence whatsoever?

And how can these same people - having so readily pointed the finger at these poor innocent Moroccans - be so affronted when the police continue to ask Kate and Gerry McCann inconvenient but necessary questions, for which the authorities presumably have at least some supporting evidence?

Is it racism, ignorance, double-standards or willing blind faith in one possible & permissable version of events, that allows people to judge some unknown Arabs one way, and a nice white, English professional couple another way?

Forget all the conspiracy theories, and everything written in the gutter press, and put yourselves in the McCanns' shoes. If you were 100% completely and utterly innocent how would you feel about some of the very negative things that have been written and said about you? I have my own thoughts about what's going on, but what I want to know is how YOU would feel if you were a McCann and you KNOW you are innocent? What effect would the negativity have on you?

when they "realised" that Madeleine had "disappeared". Does that sound like the sort of thing a distraught parent would do?????

I see so many people accusing the PJ of all sorts of horrible things. Apparently searching for Madeleine is a bad thing now according to 1 or 2. If your child was missing wouldnt you be happy if the entire world was searched and every possible sighting investigated? I guess it is ok to make accusations against the police who are actually looking for Madeleine and her perpetraitor but not ok to accuse the McCanns. Seems a bit hypocritical to me doesnt it.

I was getting depressed by all the miserable weather so I have been out and purchased a mac in a sac - with leggins - bright blue. I have some silver fashion boots which I am wearing out (not my usual high heels), a waterproof woolly hat (how the manufacturers have managed that I have no idea) and I am learning to whistle to brighten up my day, a bit tricky with the dental work having fallen down the stairs a while back. So I am out and about looking like Michelin Man with a smile and whistle (sort of) anyone have any more ideas for me to follow? What are you doing?

Myanmar's government appeared to have cut public Internet access and troops occupied key Buddhist monasteries on Friday, witnesses and diplomats said, in an effort to end demonstrations against the ruling junta.
The Internet in particular has played a crucial role in getting news and images of the pro-democracy protests to the outside world.
Thursday was the most violent day in more than a month of protests — which at their height have brought an estimated 70,000 demonstrators to the streets. Bloody sandals lay scattered on some streets as protesters fled shouting "Give us freedom, give us freedom!"
Truckloads of troops in riot gear also raided Buddhist monasteries on the outskirts of Yangon, beating and arresting dozens of monks, witnesses and Western diplomats said.
"I really hate the government. They arrest the monks while they are sleeping," said a 30-year-old service worker who witnessed some of the confrontations from his workplace. "These monks haven't done anything except meditating and praying and helping people."

of doctoring the photograph...& who passed snide insinuations about Kate McCanns photoshop skills...don't you realise now how wrong you could be???

You blatantly accused the McCanns of orchestrating a PR spin on the sighting in Morroco.
You accused them of fraudulently super imposing their Madeleine's little face in a cheap attempt to divert attention away from the rumour of her murder.
You accused the well-meaning tourist of being part of a conspiracy to deceive the public.

Now that its come to light that the little girl is not Madeleine but Bushra Binhisa, the daughter of a Moroccan olive farmer
do you feel any guilt at the aspersions & accusations you have hurled against the McCanns for this mistaken sighting by a well-meaning tourist?

OR will you coolly drift onto another accusation with not a thought or regret at the misery your baseless insinuations have caused?
