We fork over billions of dollars to Israel for aid! WHY! How do WE AMERICANS benefit? ANY IDEAS WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

As for the person whose answer was mysteriously deleted, I DO believe that the Jewish lobby in the US greatly impacts our involvement with Israel. As for Tabatha's daft comments: IRAQ HAS OIL. I can see how great a job Israel has been doing in defeating terrorism in the news (tisk). If America does benefit from Israeli intelligent, WHY? Why isn't our intelligence just as pertinent as theirs? AMERICA DOESN'T OWE ANYTHING TO ANYBODY. SAUDI ARABIA is also America's ally. The difference between Saudi Arabia and Israel is that Saudi Arabia actually has something that we need; WE NEED OIL. Israel has no useful resources; herego, they need us MORE than we need them! GOD BLESS AMERICA!

Most of the money America gives Israel, Israel then spends on American weaponry etc, because of course self defence is the priority of the Jewish state.
Also, America gives BILLIONS to Iraq: far more than to Israel. Ditto with Saudi Arabia, and Germany. Yet I don't see you expressing concern over either of these...?
America supports Israel because, apart from anything else, it's the right and moral thing to do. Israel is the only secular democracy in the Middle East; she is at the forefront of the battle against terrorism. Israel is the most experienced nation when it comes to understanding Islamic extremism and in the fight against it.
America also benefits from Israeli intelligence info, which is extremely valuable.
Plus of course it is good for America to have an ally in the Middle East.
America also, I would suggest, does owe Israel a certain debt. During WW2, America closed its' doors to the Jews desperately trying to escape the Nazis, and refused to let Jewish refugees in. That cost innocent lives, and many of them.
So if America now wishes to do the right thing, and support the Jewish state, then that's just fine by me!

Nice work, Tabatha. The Israelis aren't merely an ally in the middle east, they are a formidable ally, one that the Arabs know must be reckoned with.
The newly revived anti Israeli sentiments in American and European forums doesn't bode well for anyone, regardless of what continent they're on.

So Tabitha, the US owes Israel a debt because we wouldn't allow Jews to enter the country during Germany's atrocities? Sounds like the money we're giving them is reparations. Are you in favor of reparations for past wrong-doing?
