If We stay, we got a Regional Foothold to mount Anti-Terrorist attacks.

The United States involvement in Iraq has only increased recruits to terrorism and has made the world a more dangeous place. The WMD were not used during the invasion or after. Most experts feel that the "intelligence" on WMD was baked.

Our reasons to be in Iraq are likely to be the following:

- Claim a foothold in the Middle East to sell oil leases to our friends at Exxon and others. Oil prices are beginning to skyrocket as demand outstrips the flattening supplies of oil worldwide. Query: "Peak Oil" for details.

- Make profits for all of the privatized services surrounding the invasion and occupation. Money is to be made in privatized support contracts that are no bid. US does not do a good job of holding private firms accountable. Some even claim that the army has been involved in drug smuggling.

- Wag the dog. This was good cover for incompetent and corrupt administration. It allows massive deficit spending which helps prop up the economy and provides a smoke screen while the wealthy take resources from others. Many problems can be blamed on the occupation (they call it war).

- Increase control by instituting the "Patriot Act" reforms that strip away constitutional rights and shred the Bill of Rights. If you have enough money, you can buy your rights. Who cares about others anyway?

I hope that you don't buy the propaganda reasons that we hear every single day on the media and through government spokespersons. There is no way that our occupation of Iraq is bringing freedom and democracy. If it did, then the government would have to listen to the demands from Iraqis and American voters that want the US out of Iraq.

IRAN is not a terrorist state!!!!

Jeezus, do you call all the countries unfriendly to you terrorist? Its like calling all kids at school unfriendly to you DRUG ADDICTS, hardly anyone is jeez.

A terrorist state is a country who kills innocent civilians for no apparent reason in the hundreds of thousands. last i checked iran had its armies in its own baracks. GUESS WHERE THE US ARMY IS TODAY? GUESS WHAT THEY ARE DOING? GUESS WHO'S THE TERRORIST STATE???

you people are blind. its so sad the world has to be lead by cowboys and warmongers. It would only take 20 more years and america's dominance would be over. prepare to speak chinese kid, thats where the future truly lies.

Because they are ignorant, have no sense of history and are so idealistic that they cannot understand how to be realistic. "They would all be really nice to us if we just talked to them and give them some respect." Give me a break!!
These morons talk about WMD's like they never existed. They were confirmed to be there by international inspectors as far back as 1991. There is no evidence or materials around to suggest that they have been dismantled or scrapped, all of the intelligence (from all countries) led to the fact that they were there. AND there is a helluva lot of material exploding all over Iraq now. The real WMDs are very very likely to be in Syria right now.

Indeed it has grown rather obvious that the liabilities of the Muslim faith are by no means confined to the beliefs of Muslim extremists. The response of the Muslim world to the events of September 11, 2001 left no doubt that a significant number of human beings in the 21st century believe in Martyrdom.

We have, in response to this probable fact, declared a war on 'terrorism'. This is rather like declaring war on murder. It is a category error that obscures the true cause of our troubles. Terrorism is not a source of human violence, but merely one of its inflections.

If Osama Bin Laden were the leader of a nation and the World Trade Center had been brought down with missiles; the atrocities of September 11th would have been acts of war. It should go without saying that we would have resisted the temptation to declare a war ..on war, in response.

I guess it's something called inexperience and foresight. I can see that if we leave now the terrorist will follow in our wake and spread destruction every where. Other people seem to think they will stop fighting and stay in their own country and twiddle their thumbs-----NO WAY. They want the west wiped off the face of the earth and they'll do anything by anyway possible to do it so we have to stay. I wish my friend would come home. But he are a deterrent to the middle eastern killers to save the western way of life

edit "Good Guy--Muslims want to destroy America thats enough to want to save her. I don't know where you got your info from.Bad raters is inexperiencers and non foresight at work. I can see a bomb following us home but they can not see it knocking at their door.Honestly can't you just see it?

because the government had no right to invade in the first place, they didn't even find one WMD, which was the main reason we invaded, but the ignorant American public are easily been fooled into beliving that eveyone who's a middle eastern must be a terrorist, so that's the new excuse to have invaded, they're taking out the "terrorists" and bringing "democracy" to people that never wanted them there and still don't them there.

People think that leaving Iraq will save lives. Americans are known for ignoring the problem until it blows up in our faces. ex) lustitania, and Pearl Harbor

Because it's a crock. Your "strategy" has worked out really well so far. The terrorist population there has already multiplied many times since your clueless leader "accomplished" his "mission."
