I was getting depressed by all the miserable weather so I have been out and purchased a mac in a sac - with leggins - bright blue. I have some silver fashion boots which I am wearing out (not my usual high heels), a waterproof woolly hat (how the manufacturers have managed that I have no idea) and I am learning to whistle to brighten up my day, a bit tricky with the dental work having fallen down the stairs a while back. So I am out and about looking like Michelin Man with a smile and whistle (sort of) anyone have any more ideas for me to follow? What are you doing?

Laibach - oh dear, we are so opposite, it is dull and continuous fine rain and a bit chilly here in England. We seem to have had the usual British summer, I think there was a week here and there of sunshine. I would love to swap with you, then I might even learn to swim. Keep smiling hun.

Veritee - l live in a small cottage on the Suffolk/Norfolk border, one week-end in the summer(!) I went down the road, a few miles to an open garden, as I returned to the village, I hit what seemed like a wall of water, from dry into wet, am I living in a 'wet twilight' zone? I have been to Cornwall on holiday a few years ago, maybe I should think of moving there! Getting webbed feet here.

bunny - just read your answer, out loud, the computer obviously thought I was thinking of entering a fashion show and had a complete nervous breakdown! Just got back on - brolly out and thinking of auditioning for local dramatic society - Singing in the rain - it is now bucketing down.

mick - I have a dog, you are not going to believe this, she hates the rain, I got her a waterproof coat for encouragement but at the moment she is hiding under the bed refusing to come out in case I suggest a walk. When we go out and there is a shower she trips me up to get under the brolly, I have to hold it over her until the rain stops then we can continue!

barbie, that has put the cat amongst the pigeons so to speak - I thought I would have a bash as well, got out the mixing bowl etc, the dog took one look, yelped and has now hidden herself under the shed and refuses to come out. I suppose you could call her a smart cookie!

It depends on what you mean by miserable weather. What is miserable weather to you sounds like ideal weather to me. I would love to live in Seattle, Washington. I love cold winds, overcast skies, clouds and rain. Unfortunately I live in The San Fernando Valley in LA, California.... all we get is the F**king sun. I hate the heat. I'm not a reptile. That is miserable weather to me....
and to answer your question, I combat miserable weather by staying inside an air conditioned room or by going swimming.

Congratulations on finding a way to keep cheery - I could have done with this during the very wet and miserable summer here!
However I do not know where you are but here in Cornwall UK since the last week in August we have had great weather!! A proper indian summer!
It has got colder in the last week especially at night and there are the ocassional showers but in between the sun comes out and it is quite warm and everything looks and smells fresh and bright.
But strangely this is at odds with the weather forecast which is now saying it is cloudy - yet today and for weeks I am looking out at bright sunshine where I am??
If you have a few days off I recomend comming to Cornwall for a short break while it lasts

You should be on Tyra Banks fashion show..if it is cold..it is cold and we have to get on with it..wrap up well..have a woollen cap on the head, warm leggings and comfy non slip shoes..then again..if you are a mom and are on the go all the time..we do not think of the cold..as we are so busy rushing around!! uhmm..when last did I where high heeled boots..you sound dashing..try singing that song "beautiful girl.." forget the suicidal bit..it just has such a catchy tune and always perks me up and wants me to jig!! not good for a 45 yo!! but bless ya..you are doing grand the way you are!!

I lit a fire in the lounge, put my feet in front of it and turned on my laptop to answer questions on Yahoo answers. That may sound sad but after a night shift working out in the cold and wet it's just heaven!

carrot cake
I have even started my christmas cake...lol
edit - it is teacher training at school today, so I have my sisters kids here as well as mine, 3 teenage boys and a little boy and three teenage mates so I reckon the cakes will last about..........10 mins if I am lucky..lol
I have let the boys make homemade pizza, there is dough flying about my kitchen as we speak!

Nice knee high flat fashion boots (clumsy as hell me, especially in the wet) and a nice thick jumper or coat. Not to mention the lovely heater under my desk in work!

retail therapy is the best. but right now, i decided to relax at home. going out means spending lots of money unnecessarily. and you can't afford to do that everyday.
so i am wrapped up in blankets, with lots of food around me, and a few good movies as well as a few magazines.
i know i am pigging out , but i also follow a healthy diet and exercise. not today! ;-)

The weather here is dry, crisp and sunny, but FREEZING!
I have been digging out the big wooly jumpers, wearing a big scarf with pockets in it (!) and drinking lots of tea and soup. It makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside :)
