A skilled hypnotherapist would be able to take them back to May 3rd and find out what REALLY happened...

PS I know that this will never *actually* happen, but who thinks it *should*? Thanks.

@ Mr. Jessop
That's a very disappointing attitude, and one not based on fact as I haven't used the thumbs up or down option for any of the answers as yet…

Also, your use of ageist stereotyping is also in very poor taste (and again not based on fact).

If anyone should not be using Y! Answers - it is you. You should be thoroughly ashamed of yourself.

Hypnosis still may not find out the truth. These people are scientists and would probably resist others having a magnifying glass on their unconscious minds. They are fiercely defending their privacy. Any way to get at the truth SHOULD happen, including the lie detector test.

Yes, I think they should, because then we'll find out the truth about what REALLY happened on May 3rd to Madeleine Mcann. I think that hynotism should be allowed to be used in this country, then you'll find out what happened in other cases as well. It will make everything MUCH easier!

No. Unfortunately the 'subjects' have to want to find out the truth. The McCanns could not risk the truth coming out because then they would have to face up to the fact that they neglected all three children night after night to go out on the piss. They would not be willing subjects.

Unfortunately hypnotism does not work on pathological liars..

BTW What happened to this lie detector said that they openly declared they would take??

If my child went missing I would be totally devastated, there would be no consoling me even in public, totally dustraught is an understatement, maybe I am not a good judge of character but I cannot understand why the parents or how the parents remain so calm, no tears in public, no nervous shaking, I know we all deal with problems in a different way and I cannot accuse but something is not quite right with this case and it is very difficult to fathom it out.

There must be some way to find out the truth, but anything like that is not 100% proof and that is what is needed.

I don't think hypnosis would work on the McCanns. People undergo hypnosis because they want to. I do not think the McCanns want the whole "truth" to come out because it would damage their self esteem. They are child neglectors who refuse to accept the fact. I think that is what they are covering up. Their ego's can't cope with it.

A good hypnotherapist can also induce fantasy in an answer.

EDIT- Wow. Thank you for the personal response. Your denial is wholly convincing. You sure made a believer out of this doubter.

No. I think that would leave the very same questions in place that we have now. How could you know the hypnosis "took"? Some people aren't good candidates for hypnosis. Ask any hypnotist.
