Simple: "we" are not invited. There was a debate on TV a few months ago on the topic of atheism and discrimination (I cannot find the link now, not sure if it was posted on YouTube; but if you are patient, you can probably find a reference in the Secular Humanist Yahoo discussion group), and there was no atheist on the panel. Basically, some brainwashed believers only want to debate among themselves, that way they can quote the bible as much as they want without risking being contradicted, and seemingly, TV network are happy to oblige for fear of being singled out, boycotted.
And when you really think about it, what is the point of debating with religious fanatics when you know some of them would gladly kill non-believers -- actually, some of them claim that they HAVE to kill non-believers? In most religion, preaching and getting other to join is a mission that is imposed on current followers. Since we atheist do not have a "holy book" to force us to do things, we may try to bring some kind of balance in reason out of goodwill; and very often, some may fail to see the interest in wasting time with brainwashed people who cannot discuss an issue without quoting from their fairy tale book which, they claim, has all the answers and *cannot* be wrong.
That said, Dawkins is quite vocal.
They cannot shut us up on Yahoo (as far as I can tell) but watch how quickly we'll get those thumbs down...

Because they are shut out, like all the rest of reality.
The internet has free speech, while a free press is only available to those who own one. And that is an ever shrinking group who have an agenda that does not include many areas of thought. Atheists are just one thing among a great many.
If you surf the Web you can find many Ideas, some good some bad and some just crazy, but at least each one has a chance to make its case and no matter what the Idea there will also be another Web page opposing it.
If there were an actual free press this would not be a novelty.

Same reason why in the 1990s CBS fought against its perception as a network for senior citizens... everyone in media wants the largest possible demographic appeals (in CBS' case, that means the youth market), and since so many Americans not only self-identify with Christianity, but are intolerant of atheists or other paths, media caters to this element.

appearing on Mainstrean media is indeed a big step. Mayb they think reaching out to the concerned thru online forums is better as otherwise they might b sujectd to strong objections from the truely religois and faithful. So keeping away from the tv and news helps them have a free stand on what they believe without risking themselves b easily targetted to oppositons which claim them to talk blasphemy.

Are you suggesting culling this communicate board?? no longer a undesirable thought, i assume... What I cant decide is why tennis gamers won't be able to easily handle ecosystem. You dont see golfers capturing gophers on the direction, forbidding birds to fly around or the rest...why are tennis gamers such divas that they cant have slightly environmental distraction to make the interest greater good? Wusses.

Everyone believes in something ...this makes 'atheistism'
non-existant....so if you're 'inspired and uplifted' by seeing
'intelligence' in such hypocrits....you may want to seach in other fields....not arguing with you, only trying to get the point
over that a 'true atheists' is a myth and true reporters
don't meddle with 'known hypocrits'.
