I used to live in the country and as kids we spent many a day touching the electric fences that were there to stop the cows!
I know it sounds silly but we used it as like a forfeit if you didn't do a dare.
It doesn't hurt, its a deep tickle/scratch like feeling. Its not dangerous, so I doubt it will deter the burglars, to be honest.

hate to say it but your neighbors may be starting to suffer from alzheimers or some other dementia.. Do they have any family in town? Maybe you can call them abnd try to explain what you are dealing with... If it continues at some point the utility cvompay and others like the mail man are gonna startt saying something, and it will only escalate.. Talk it over the with city and police... you don't need to make a big deal out of anything... just start making phone calls and see if the family knows... As for the low lines... 8 1/2 above ground is not safe... you need to speak with a supervisor, or someone from the city and explain that the lines need to be raised.. Worse case, start filing complaints and let the chips fall where they may... Good luck.

I don't blame em.
mick: did it never occur to you that a bird can quite happily sit on a pylon which carries stupid amounts of electrical current through it, you don't see the birds dropping dead when they land on those! If a bird lands on this one I'm pretty sure it will be fine and can happily fly off again!!

The school my bf works at has gates and high fences, you are supposed to buzz from outside the gate to announce yourself but they always leave it unlocked and the kids are always escaping, its a behvaioural school too!

They couldn't get away with that here in the US, parents would throw such a fit and probably rip the fence down themselves. What were they thinking?

which school is it the elementary school ,middle school,high school because all them should know not to touch other than the elementary school and yes sounds good might keep these freaks out that tend to blow our kids up or the ones that just want to walk in and blow our kids head off really makes since. but since this is brought up we still cannot seem to stop kids from taking knives and guns to school

Police state it is a lie they are telling their people. fake intruders to justify a fence around the school. That is crazy.
