Several years ago, I lived in an apartment on the second floor above a couple. One night when I was walking up the first set of stairs, the man (of the couple living below me) opened up his door and stood in his doorway buck naked...totally nude! I pretended not to see him. Then when I was moving out a month later, he walked up to me and asked me if I needed any help. I said "No."

I moved into a new apartment and the realized that the gas control valve behind the stove was shut off (the knob was perpendicular to the pipe). I turned it on by turning the knob a full 90 degrees so that it is now parallel to the pipe and I can hear the gas flowing. I was able to start the pilot lights on the stove. I dont know if we are supposed to turn it on fully or if it is better to partially turn it on (probably by turning the knob 45 degrees?)

As well...I was able to turn the stove pilot light on but was not able to get the oven to work. I like to know if there are separate pilot lights for the oven.

I am not quite familiar with these problems so please give me your advices and responses. Thank you for reading this and I will greatly appreciate your responses.

This sounds strange, but it started innocently enough. Many years ago for the sake of my clothes I started useing plastic hangers and gradually got rid of the wire ones. I bought the plastic ones in lots of colors, and over time I had quite a collection. One day it occured to me why not sort the clothes onto hangers the same color to make them easy to find. So now my blue shirts are on blue hangers, etc. This has grown into a bit of an obssesion, if I see hangers in a new color I don't already have I must buy them. (I'm lucky hangers are cheap). Like other people with collections I even have my "rare pieces" - hangers from the 70's in colors like rust & olive that are no longer made. I'm curious if anyone else has an odd or unusual collection?

My grandson spilled two bottles of spices, one each of curry and paprika on my light brown carpet. I have NO IDEA how to remove this stain. So far I have only very carefully vacuumed the excess. I know that both of these spices are also dyes. Can anyone help me? There is a horrible red spot in the middle of my living room carpet; it's the first thing you see when entering the room...HELP PLEASE! SVP: No jokes. I can't afford hard wood floors or new carpeting. Dyeing the wall to wall carpet would cost a fortune so that's out as well. This carpet is not old.

I clean up the food storages, but the problem is my mom is deaf ear to my complaining and even my advice. She buys and cooks food, but she makes big food storages too many. Freezer is filled and refrigerator is super-filled. It is getting worse.

My mother passed away last year and I inherited everything in her 10-room home. She was a collector - big time. I attempted to contact antique dealers and estate liquidators, but nobody was interested. It seems the antique market is flooded right now and no one is taking on any new consignments. I've been attempting to sell the house contents by staging a private estate/lawn sale on weekends, but it's just too much work for me. I also discovered that people won't look through boxes - they want it out on display, so this makes a lot of extra work for me. Yesterday it took me two and a half hours to pack it up. Today I can hardly walk after the exertion of carrying packing up dishes, glassware and carrying tables and pallets around. Added to the fact that most people that come don't buy the large, expensive items, so I'm left with them to lug in and out. I don't want to give the stuff away - it must have some value. I could use the money! What is the best way for me to proceed?

I have a 2 bed semi with 3 sloping sides to the roof and want a dorma (spell?) window putting it and the loft panelling out to be used as a bed room.

I have heard that there has been talk in the commons to scrap planning permission for thsi, does anyone know any more?

Also, my house was under pinned 35 years ago. It's fine now (structural engineers report 8 years ago). Will this effect having loft converted?

Thanks in anticipation....

i mixed a bit of boric acid and sugar..i put it on news paper..i laid it on my hard wood floors...in 3 places and it seems to me that it is 'attracting' the ants..not killing them. Are they suppose to die right there on the paper..or do they go back to their 'home' and die there? Can i also spray around the floor where the paper is and on the paper..or is this defeating the whole purpose of the boric acid

When I plug my Dell laptop into outlets on the 2nd floor of my home the pointer becomes really jumpy, and hard to control. I would assume it is a computer problem, but it is only on the 2nd floor outlets, and I had an HP which did the same thing. What can I check to see if my house is wired incorrectly? All other appliances seem to work ok.

I have looked for them everywhere--they are the least expensive and most effective thing to get rid of flies. You know, the old fashioned kind that farmers hang in their barn.

I've got a big massive bath, which takes about twenty minutes to fill with lovely hot water. I probably have a bath every day, cause I like it, and as a result my gas bill in astranomical. My boyfriend rekons I should just have a shower but I'm selfish like that. I was just wondering if any of you clever types out there could figure out how much on average powergen like to charge me for these indulgent bathtimes, Thanks!
