I know it's been asked, but here's my situation:
I adopted a kitten, she brought fleas, I adopted her back out (have 2 adult cats) Fleas are EVERYWHERE! My treatment began with a spray. Nada. Then, baking soda and boric acid. Nada. Then, Borax. So-so, but still fleas. Next, Sevin dust. Better, but fleas still present! Treated my cats with Advantage, put a light with Dawn and water in L.R., caught hundreds or more. Still have fleas. Bought a powder the other night that is supposed to be an IGR. Still jumping around. They even managed to crawl into the stitching on my mattress!! We didn't sleep in our bed for 5 days! Finally, sprayed the bed, vacuumed it and put fresh sheets on. Fleas are back. I vacuum nearly daily and empty the canister as soon as I'm done.
My home is 1500 sq. feet, 2 levels and except for 2 rooms... all carpet! I am at my wits end. It's been over 3 weeks and everytime I feel I'm gaining ground.. I see more. Bombs are last resort. Suggestions?

This is my first home and I'm moving out in about 6 years.
We already have been in here about a year.

My husband and I are in the military and next year, I am getting out to go to college full time.

I want to spruce up the master bathroom(appliance rearrange) and the tv room(closet from hell) and the garage( theater room) but I don't want to put so much money in this house and kick myself when it's time to sell.

How do you know what to mess with,
when to get a contractor,
how to figure out your budget,
what to do yourself,
how much is too much,
when to hire the realtor to evaluate what to do in the house (like on the home and garden shows),
when i should hire a designer to get the most out of my home without spending too much money or time or whether it's worth doing at all,
when to get a survey of the area....

oh boy....

I am making my own centerpieces for my wedding, and what I want to do is submerge a live oriental or stargazer lily in a vase filled with water and have floating candles on top -- will it survive underwater during the reception or will it wilt and look bad?

I called the exterminator and he said that there aren't cockroaches in my apartment but that they're coming from my front door. I already spotted 3 medium sized ones within this month and they were near on my computer boxes, near my computer desk and CPU. It is very disgusting just to see them.

I poured boric acid near the door, but how do I prevent them from coming in?

I have two "patio" tomato plants in 14" pots growing beautifully on my deck. :) I have lots of fruit starting to grow on both plants but I've had some people tell me to trim off the branches that don't have fruit to allow nutrients to get destributed to the branches with fruit. My plants are pretty bushy....I've actually never seen tomato plants with so many branches but maybe it's because of the "patio" quality to them. I think they won't get much bigger than they are now at about 2 feet tall. I only add this bit of info to stress the fact that trimming would really affect the plant's appearance and may not only be one or two branches. Does anyone have any experiance with this or further info and if I trim, how do I go about doing it to be sure I don't damage the plants. I'm almost afraid to touch them, they are doing so beautifully. :) This is my first time growing tomatos and am really pleased with them so far! Thanks in advance for any info!

I know you need to wear a mask and gloves and use javex and ammonia to wash it away. I am allergic to mold, dust, and dustmites, so I believe I should wear a charcoal filtered mask to protect me from the toxins, it looks like a gas mask, and can be purchased from the safety supply store.

Is it better to use ceramic or vynil tile in the bathrooms and why?
(example: how it feels on your feet if you live in a state where it gets really cold in the winter, how easy are they to clean, etc.)
Thanks!

My husband and I are buying 46 acres, we will be building our dream home. What are some features you have thought of in your life that your dream home would have? To all the ladies, what would be a great feature to make our lives easier, what about the "ahhh" factor? Men, what kind of features would my husband love?

Thanks for the answers!

My girlfriend and I constantly bicker. She insists on leaving it around 77+ degrees in the house (why are women constantly cold?), while I'd prefer just to always leave the switch on 69-72 degrees. She says at that temperate it costs too much to run, and our bill will be a lot higher. So, what is the actual costs of running the unit? And is it better to leave it on one constant temperature?
