I know it's been asked, but here's my situation:
I adopted a kitten, she brought fleas, I adopted her back out (have 2 adult cats) Fleas are EVERYWHERE! My treatment began with a spray. Nada. Then, baking soda and boric acid. Nada. Then, Borax. So-so, but still fleas. Next, Sevin dust. Better, but fleas still present! Treated my cats with Advantage, put a light with Dawn and water in L.R., caught hundreds or more. Still have fleas. Bought a powder the other night that is supposed to be an IGR. Still jumping around. They even managed to crawl into the stitching on my mattress!! We didn't sleep in our bed for 5 days! Finally, sprayed the bed, vacuumed it and put fresh sheets on. Fleas are back. I vacuum nearly daily and empty the canister as soon as I'm done.
My home is 1500 sq. feet, 2 levels and except for 2 rooms... all carpet! I am at my wits end. It's been over 3 weeks and everytime I feel I'm gaining ground.. I see more. Bombs are last resort. Suggestions?

By the way... I haven't treated under my sofa yet... I am disabled and can't move it. Could that be where they're hiding/breeding? I vacuumed the sofa, but they're back on it and around it.

First let me tell you that I own a pest control company and what I will recommend is the complete treatment that should help you completely get rid of the fleas.

First, treat the pet with Capstar. This is a pill that you get from the vet that will kill all of the fleas that get on the animal for the first 24 hours. Second, use either Frontline or Advantage, these can also be purchased from the vet. Frontline can be used on pets 12 weeks old or older. Advantage can be used on animals as young as 6 weeks. If the pet is old enough for either product, switch back and forth between the two. One month use one, the next use the other. The reason I recommend this is that there are two main types of fleas that infest pets. One product works better on the first type and the other product works better on the second type. By using both, you make sure you have covered all your bases.

Once the pet has been treated, you must treat your home and yard. The best products to do this would include not only a killing agent, but also a sterilization agent. Inside, I would use Ultracide, if you can get it. (Many on line sites sell it.) Follow the instructions on the label! Wash all animal’s bedding and vacuum frequently. In the vacuum catch container, or vacuum bag, put a cheap flea collar. Throw out the vacuum bag or dump the catch container after every vacuuming. You can never vacuum too much! DO NOT STEAM CLEAN YOUR RUGS! This can hatch flea eggs and make your problem worse.

Outside I would use Demon WP mixed with Gentrol or Nylar, carefully following label instructions. Treat the entire yard, paying special attention to under bushes and low hanging branches. Most of these products can be bought at any Do-It-Yourself Pest Control company either on line or in a store.

Treating your house and yard is just as important as treating the pet!

Fleas can just drive you mad, huh? I've been where you are and I think I know what your problem may be because I've experienced it myself. It takes a while to kill all the fleas because of the flea life cycle. The powders and poisons kill the adult fleas, but do nothing to the eggs. It is a cycle that you must go through. Adults die, eggs hatch, you have fleas again, they die, more eggs hatch and then they die. I know it stinks, but a little patience and they should all eventually die off. One thing I do when fleas get bad is I put down the carpet powder, rake it in, and then plan a day out and let it set almost all day or longer if possible. I wish you luck. I know they are maddening.

I suggest you use bombs and should have to begin with, as they work, just make sure the cats aren't in the room or areas that you bomb. It may take two bombing about three days apart as the fleas have laid eggs and the bombing won't kill all the eggs the first time. I have two cats and have found if they go outside you need to get them a real good flea collar and use front line. Good luck, but it worked for me.

I moved into a trailer one time and realized it was totally infested with fleas...I went to the health food store and got some pennyroyal oil...took it home and put two tbs in a quart of water in a spray bottle and you could see the clouds of fleas heading toward the door as I sprayed...it got rid of all of them, you can put it on you as well and they wont bite, they breath thru their skin and it covers them and they sufficate..i used it on everything, it didnt stain anything and smells nice, I also added citronella oil to it and sprayed my dog and cats and they were rid of the ticks and fleas, also feed some brewers yeast and garlic to the cats and dog and this repels them from the inside...it wasnt long before I was flea and tick free...I also found that flying bugs dont like it either, like misqitos and wasps...so I sprayed it out side around my windows and doors and they dont come in....hope it helps

you will choose a flea comb and a bowl of soapy water. Flea comb him and dunk the comb contained in the soapy (break of day is advantageous for this) water, this might kill the fleas. save combing and dunking the comb till each and all of the fleas are long gone. thankfully your puppy is 8 weeks. There are some flea shampoos on the industry which you could use for youthful doggies be valuable to study the labels. My advice may be to get Capstar (flea meds) at your vets (it incredibly is far less costly). The fleas will drop off in half-hour, whether this in simple terms kills the adults and does not sterlize the eggs. Capstar may be used on doggies and kittens 4 weeks previous and weighing 2 kilos. this might truthfully resolve your flea situation on the 2d. you ought to additionally take care of the ambience. in case you do no longer in spite of fleas have jumped off the puppy till now treating will leap decrease back onand you will commence the cycle another time. Flea bites might go away a sprint pink mark the place they took their meal. maximum situations they itch like loopy ought to final each week relies upon on the guy. with a bit of luck you and your puppy are no longer allergic to fleas!! because of the fact that he's so small i might feed 4 situations an afternoon. Get your self the doggies for Dummies e book, it ought to have an answer to all your questions. in case you won't be in a position to purchase it, get it from the library. i might feed your puppy 4 situations an afternoon and NO milk! i might feed a stable style of nutrition to get him started precise. you could feed kibble, in simple terms placed a sprint heat water on it to soften it up. Parvo is a significant worry now, so which you ought to get your puppy to work out the vet ASAP. Please do no longer take this puppy everywhere in public till he has his vaccines. For vaccines I persist with Dr, Jean Dodds DVM protocol see source field under. stable success mutually with your puppy and get to artwork on those fleas. you do no longer choose him to get flea-anemia.

You have to go to the pet store and buy a flea comb, its a small wire comb with a plastic handle, get yourself a piece of newspaper, and take your cats one at a time and comb them . You will see the fleas and \now you kill them with the back of your nail, buy Avon's skin so soft oil and use it on them in back of the neck , places they can't reach. it really works. But before you do any of that get yourself a bug killer for fleas,)Combat Room Fogger for roaches and fleas) read the directions and be ready to leave the house for at least 2 hours Before entering the house maybe you can comb the cats outside, keep this up everyday, until you don't see them anymore. It did work for me.
