Ok so (we) just got our first house and everyone keeps bugging me about having a house warming party. As I am the first person in my family to have ever gotten a house, I am very unfamiliar with this process. Do I cater to friends, family etc? Is it customary to set up a gift registry somewhere? What is the standard expectation of me by my friends who would be attending, and do I need to expect anything from my friends? Any examples of customary dishes served or activities that take place would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Yesterday I was helping a friend paint her nersary. We had to use oil based primer to go over black walls with all sorts of writing over it. Regular primer didn't work, we tried. Any way I have paint all over my hands and it won't come off. I have scrubbed and scrubbed and scrubbed. does anyone have any suggestions on how to clean this off of skin?

Is an electronic air filter better or worse than a media filter. I have heard that the media filter does a better job with dust than the electronic air filter and is less expensive. Does anyone else have any knowledge of these filters? Many thanks in advance.

In my kitchen, whenever I get up & get some coffee for the morning, I find lots of cockroaches, little ones as well as big ones running around, getting into the microwaves, every possible spots they can find. How do I get rid of them?

This only happens when we go to sleep, the house's in complete silence & they start coming out. What's the best spray to use? Is there something that's non-toxic or any home remedies?

We just bought a whirlpool smooth top electric stove with a ceramic glass top, used it once, and one of the burners has some bubble like appearance on one side. Is this common? What kind of cookware is the best to use with this stove? We tried finding information in the owner's manual, but of course, it doesn't tell you much. The cookware that we have now slides very easily while you are trying to stir something. Also, is there a protective cover that we can purchase for it?

In the interests of preventing climate change, it would be great if people could reduce the time during which they heated their house to the time when they are at home. But it takes time to heat up, so people have it on a timer, usually so its warm for the earliest time they arrive home. Money and carbon could be changed it they only put it on before leaving for home, so on the days they were out in the evening it wasn't turned on until later!
