We just bought a whirlpool smooth top electric stove with a ceramic glass top, used it once, and one of the burners has some bubble like appearance on one side. Is this common? What kind of cookware is the best to use with this stove? We tried finding information in the owner's manual, but of course, it doesn't tell you much. The cookware that we have now slides very easily while you are trying to stir something. Also, is there a protective cover that we can purchase for it?

I have a flat smooth top stove and the only thing that I would tell you is try not to spill anything on the burner while it is on. The cook-top is not suppose to bubble up at all because it is made out of glass or ceramic. Never use a cast iron pot on it and it is also good never to us any oversize pots on it either. I don't know of any protective covering. I use a heavy-metal grade of pots and pans so mine does not slide at all.

No copper cookware. Use Aluminum or Stainless, but the bottoms can not be copper because it will scratch the glass top. Use the razorblade scraper and stove top polish/cleaner to remove any droppings/burned on mess. The bubble may simply be food residue, I do not know of any protective cover for the top. As long as you clean it after useage/food spillage, you will get a long life out of it.

One thing I might add is don't put anything in the cabinets over your stove that could fall on top of the glass top because it can and will break.

There is a special cleaner and the owner's manuel should tell you about that. You need to be careful not to scratch the smooth
top.
