i have a troy bilt tiller and when i till with it the tiller takes off like its in a race so i have to hold on and pull back. Place help

You pull the adjuster bar UP in order to till shallower.If you are tilling sod it takes 4-5 passes to get to dirt. Don't be impatient. Start at the shallowest setting and make a swipe. Lower the bar 1 notch, and make a second. Keep going. Eventually you will break up the sod and get to the dirt. I've been using the same Troy Built Junior tiller, with the same method, for 25 years.

There's usually an adjustable bar that sticks down into the tilled soil to act as a break and to slow it down. Try sliding that down further.
