Has anyone had this company to their home for a quotation - if so what were your experiences of them.

I've also had the pleasure... The ex husband let him in, that's why he's now the ex... (Joke... Well, he is the ex but that's not the reason why...)

The guy went on about the show home thing as in the first answer. "We've looked round the area and your house is just perfect for our catalogue show home (it was virtually a building site at the time), if you buy our windows and win our competition you will get a full refund/not have to pay, just sign here please". Or somthing along those lines.

Obviously I told him no, particularly as he was insistent I signed a contract there and then! I never, ever sign things on the spot. If they want my business then they will be willing to leave a contract for me to read thoroughly and sign at my leisure. He couldn't even tell me exactly what new windows would cost!

We eventually replaced just the necessary ones ourselves, at the tiniest fraction of the cost.

My advice would be "don't go there".

CG.

ps, the thing about phoning the boss is a well known sales technique. They already have a lowest price, what they do is give you something way over what it's worth, in the hopes that you will pay it.

If you insist it's too much they "call the boss", which can be anyone in the office (or even their mother!) and pretend they are giving you a "special" one-off deal. It's not true sorry. I know someone who did this in their training. They didn't last long (like the person above), on prinicipal.

Steer well clear is my advice. I had them round twice. first time I sat through the video, listened to all the reasons why my house would be a good 'sales home', even though I lived in a cul de sac of 4 houses miles from anywhere, and had them there for over 3 hours while they 'phoned the boss to get cheaper prices for me. The pressure to sign on the dotted line was unbelievable. My then fella managed to get rid of them but they still kept phoning up to find out what was wrong. Second time(last year) my new fella got them cold calling at 10am and they were back to visit at 3pm. Although I wanted a brown/white window..which they don't make they did not give up trying to sell me a complete white package. I asked them to leave then 10 mins later the manager phoned wanting to know why I didn't want white windows. Two days later a marketing person rang to see if I had changed my mind!!!! I dealt with a small local firm after that who came round, measured the windows and gave me a price in about half an hour. Bloody good windows and excellent fitters.

I worked for this company about 10 years ago, phoning people from the call centre to persuade them that they wanted new windows and then setting up appointments for salesmen to call. I walked out in disgust after 3 days. They were thoroughly unprofessional towards their staff and their attitudes towards customers were dreadful. They really are a con company and I would advise you not to have anything to do with them at all.

I saw so many window companies I honestly can't remember if Zenith was one of them. But if they do a stupid 'show home' promotion, then yes, we did suffer the experience. Hubby ended up telling the poor boy to pack his bags and leave. He said he couldn't because he didn't have a car so he'd have to wait for his boss to come and collect him (??) Grief! Funnily enough, we didn't use them in the end ha ha

hi. we have just had our porch and beau window done. when they came to measure up and do the quote. it was quite funny. the lady was there for nearly three hours, and kept giving us prices. the quote started at 14,000.0 which was far too expensive.. so we played with her and then said sorry we don,t want it. may be when we have some extra money. ..... she was on the phone instantly.. to her boss. trying to do some dealing and discounts. to cut it short she phoned her boss four times... the 14,000. well let me just tell you we only paid 6 and a half thousand.... so my advice is always hold out... never agree to the first second or third quote..... the fourth one will always be a winner..... have a maximum price you are prepared to pay before they come round.. and contact a private firm first.
