what gauge extension cord should I use for my christmas lights? I have commercial grade mini christmas lights from GE that say you can connect up to six runs. Each run is 200 lights and 58 feet and I will be using 6 runs together. I have to run 200 feet from the house before getting to the mini lights. The box of xmas lights say they are 67.2w 120v 60hz. I have always heard that 300 mini lights = 1amp. What gauge extension cord should I use since I need 200 feet of it? Thanks

Turn up their heating in winter and down in summer. Surely if you kept the same comfortable temp in your house all year long it would be fine.

We have had ours for about 5 years. I never sleep through the night and spend a lot of time tossing and turning. And also, do you have to buy a new box spring too? If yes, then why?

I paid thousands $$. Here are my issues.
1. the 1/8" to 1/4" (it varies!!) of caulk between the countertop slabs, backsplash pieces. Totally ruin the look! In the showroom the seams were difficult to see..
2. I thought granite is a durable material. Yet he said to never put a lot of weight on the front of the sink area or lean on it & that granite is naturally weaked by fissures!
3. I can see & feel a crack At the back of the undermount st. steel sink & 2 spots, 1" diameter, are "rough" and dull.
4. one back corner of the counter is higher than the front & is NOT level at all. I checked with a level and the bubble is all the way up.
5. They took a door frame loose where it was in the way of the counter's edge & left it hanging there...they never mentioned it at all!
6. Tops edges of backsplash is not a shiny as rest
7. There is a 1/4" chunk out of one front corner

I bought just the top part of a sleep number bed and I want to avoid buying the $400 base that Select Comfort sells. I want to get a head board/foot board, but they all seem to come with slats as a foundation for a box spring. Has anyone had luck putting a sleep number bed on a slat base?

So I work in a small office and the amount of paper that gets wasted for random reasons was out of control... Anyways I decided to start recycling for the office and since there is no recycle thing here, I have been taking it home and putting it in our recycle bin...
We collect it in a regular kitchen trash can, but we cant put it in the bin with the trash bag... and its much easier, Soo does anyone know a company that makes recyleable plastic bags or some sort of trash bag I can collect everything in like the regular trash??

My family and I live in the country- right next to some grain bins, no less... and we are having a huge problem with mice... We use traps but it dosen't seem to be putting a dent in them. They're all moving in becuase it's so cold outside. I'm pregnant so I can't get a cat and I can't use poison because I have young children and a dog. I have heard that if you pack dryer sheets around clothes, towels, boxes, etc. that they like to chew into, they'll stop. What can I do? Are there any other regular household things I can do while I'm trying to get them with traps?! What brand (if it matters) of dryer sheets do I use?!

I just had fire wood delivered and I had the guy stack the logs on my deck. The deck in about 8ft off the ground and is supported between the house and the garage. The width is about 5ft between the two buldings and I hve it stacke against the rails closest to the garage.

I read the you should keep the wood as far away as possible from your home and to keep it off the ground to prevent pest (mice and insects). Id this a good or bad place to stack this wood? The deck has a half inch gap between the bords so it gets plenty of ventilation under it, plus beneth the deck is a open concrete floor area. Please let me know so I may make plans on moving it if I need to. Thanks.

Why are we concentrating on how to produce more energy sources when we haven't looked at building better insulated houses.
If we increase the insulation on new builds both for walls and roof plus triple glazing, we may find our body heat and that from things such as fridges and tv's would reduce the need for heating to zero.
Are the oil companies somehow strangling such initiatives?
