We have had ours for about 5 years. I never sleep through the night and spend a lot of time tossing and turning. And also, do you have to buy a new box spring too? If yes, then why?

Box springs are a necessity - think of it this way -- the bed frame (legs) has slats going across (which are support beams). Unless you have that box spring (which is basically a wooden frame that is padded) -- then your mattress will be sitting on top of (most of the time) 3 slats -- and no mattress will be able to lay flat to support the sleepers when your weight is pushing it down between the large space between the slats.

Mattresses have guarantees on them -- depending on the manufacturer and model -- it can be anywhere from 5 to 10 to 20 years ...

I do rotate the Mattress 180 degrees each month, and flip the mattress every 2 months -- this extends the life of what I have purchased, and I can assure you that I do look at the manufacturer's warranty, and am willing to pay for a mattress with a better (longer) warranty time period.

Now .. one of the keys to mattress buying -- did you take your time when you chose your current mattress? Here are my hints to mattress shopping: Check several manufacturers/models. Wear Comfortable clothes, and DO take your time. Lie DOWN ON several -- and see if it is comfortable for you after 5-10-15 minutes. The only way you are going to know it is comfortable for many years is IF YOU TRY IT OUT in the STORE!

And do not ignore mattress discounters -- factory seconds may have slight blemishes on the surfaces -- but in other ways, it is manufactured to the same way that the 1sts are -- just has a slight tear in the side, or has sewing that is off, or whatever slight that would make it a 2nd.

Most of the brand name mattresses have a warranty on the mattress when you purchase it, whether it be 5, 10, 15, or 20 years. If you haven't abused it it any way and purchased it off a reputable bedding sales store and it is a warrantied product, consider getting them to replace it with a new one and deduct off the price of a new one your 5 years of use on the old one. You might want a copy of your original sales receipt as proof of purchase.
Box springs are generally replaced when the mattresses are. They are part of your bedding support system. Its also a warranty thing, and possibly part of the package price anyway, so why not? Check this stuff out, and hopefully soon you and yours will be again sleeping happily and comfortably in your little nest!

if you turn your mattress over at least once a month it should last you 8 to 15 years. You will be surprised what good nights sleep you can get once you turn it over. It is best that you buy new box springs for the simple reason the material on your mattress and box springs will match and your box springs will break down like your mattress over time.

Seems the average lifespan of a mattress is 8-10 years. However, I would think more importantly is how you feel on it.

It's good until you feel it isn't good. Simple as that.
