I don't mean like house cleaners, I mean someone who you can pay to tidy your house for you. (God that makes me sound lazy lol - I just don't have enought time recently & my partner is useless at any kind of housework!) If so, what are they called or anyone know of any weblinks to such services? Thanks.

Kays used to be seperate but Littlewoods has even taken over that now. I thought we had a monopolies commission in this country that stopped that sort of thing

We get a lot of cold callers (door to door salesmen) because of the strong smell of wealthy retired people around here.
Can you think of a good note to put on the front door to advise them they are not welcome?. Advise for your answers, if you say No cold callers, they say they are not cold callers, typicaly "Oh no we are advising you of a local service"

Please help I have never lived in a house with roaches or mice until moving to Ny. I clean the house everyday and still they are here, they get to live rent free. I need a safe way to rid the house of these suckers it is to the point that I want to move back to MA just to stop dealing with this. It does not help that my neighbors are not the cleanest people either.

I live in apartment. They're fairly nice and expensive. However, one of the neighbors must be a heavy smoker, because my apartment fills with the smell of cigarette smoke every single day. It's especially bad in the kitchen and if you turn on the vent fan above the stove, it smells terrible! It also comes through the fan in the bathroom. The smoke is so bad and is triggering headaches in me nearly every single night (I'm prone to cluster headaches and cigarette smoke is a trigger for me). It's also making my throat sore. I know these are the effects of the smoke because I lived with family that smoked for 17 years. Anyway, what can I do about this? I live in Washington state. I know we just passed strict anti-smoking laws, but I don't think anything is mentioned about cases like this. The apartment staff is incredibly unhelpful. It's becoming unbearable to be in my own apartment! I can't afford to move either and am still locked in to a 10 month lease. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I asked this question a couple of days ago, but I am not 100% satisfied with the answers I received. I'm not sure if everyone understood the question. So here it goes again. Thanks in advance for answering.

What is the BEST method for saving gas on your utility bill...a) setting the thermostat at a CONSTANT temperature (doesn't matter the degrees) ALL DAY...or...b) using the SETBACK method and have the thermostat AUTOMATICALLY drop the temperature 6-8 degrees when I'm at work/sleeping/etc and then RAISE it back when I am awake or come home?

The setback method happens automatically, everyday. I don't touch the thermostat. It's programmed and left alone.

In the SUMMER, experts and research says it's cheaper to set the temperature at ONE SETTING and LEAVE IT ALONE, no matter if you're at work or sleeping. So why is it different for the winter, with the invention of the newer, programmable thermostats?

I hope to get some real good answers, and maybe some proof. Thanks.

I have a nagging cockroach problem in my house. The guys are everywhere, and I'm trying to get rid of them. Roach sprays don't really help much, plus they have this nauseating, toxic smell. Do you know of any home remedies (non-toxic) that can control or eliminate cockroach infestation?

For emergency heating and such during short term power outages... Thanks

2006-09-28 18:41:31 · 4 answers · asked by Jade Orchid 7

I'd like to add heat to my new home and I'm wanting something small for emergency power outages or "pleasure" heating. I'd prefer something that was small, but maybe had an optional cooking space (like those old small cook stoves you see sometimes), that didn't take up too much space, and cost less than $500 dollars.

Thanks! :D
