I already have two L shaped metal spikes on each side that don't secure it enough to keep it from falling over.

Drive a long heavy pipe into the ground leaving some of it sticking out to attach to the sides of the arbor. If you go down below the frost line with the holes and then put concrete around the pipes they will outlast the wooden arbor.

Go to Home Depot and buy some mobile home anchors they are like metal augers, work great.

it's best to dig holes and place the arbor posts in the hole, and fill with dry cement. then add water to cement. this will secure the arbor.

Dig holes, and pour concrete footings. It will never tip over.

Try wire or cable guidelines - in stainless steel of course.
