The taps are self closing stlye by Armitage Shanks. They run for several minutes when pressed and the only way to stop the flow is to lift the tap back up. Is there a way of shortening the time that they flow for? I've tried to take they appart ti investigate but when I took the cap off there was a triangular headed screw that I couldn't undo with my conventional tools. Any ideas would be welcome as I'm always coming into the bathroom and finding the taps running.
Cheers

We just moved into a newly purchased home but is a 1983 home. The windows are old and we need to replace one of the tilt latches on one of the windows. Any ideas maybe an online store that sells various latches. I've gone online but keep finding proprietary latches.

We have an gas furnace and the water pump got unplugged. This morning it tried to fire up but it won't ignite. We plugged the water pump in (when we noticed it got unplugged). Is this why it stopped, will it kick on? Any ideas?

I Have tried to replaced the old shower mixer with hot and cold that had broken, but when I breake the tile, the base of the existing shower mixer is rusty. I have the new mixer, but I have no idea how to fit the the new one without breaking the entire wall, because there is no enough space to fit the hot and cold and to the shower side pipe and also no way to fit the treaded pipe to the treaded shower mixer

for the guest room there's an A.C. unit (Carrier) up on the roof, when i turn on the A.C. i get a smell from the unit ducts that's like a load of sewage and also in the bathroom because it's connected to it. Same thing for the rooms upstairs. The house is new so i doubt the ducts need cleaning.

I just moved into a new apartment, and have a gas stove. I've lived my whole life with electric, so it's pretty new to me. I went to cook something in the oven last night, and when I first turned set it to 350, the flame underneath came on just fine. But when I was checking on my food, I noticed that the flame had gone off. Is this dangerous? I was always under the impression that if it was on, but there was no flame, that dangerous gas was just being pumped into the kitchen. Please note that this is the oven part, not any of the burners on the actual stovetop.

I want to hang a flat-backed ceramic figure on the back of the house on the stucco wall around the chimney. In front, I want to move the house numbers from the post where they are obscured by wisteria vines, to the side of the garage door. Should I use an adhesive? Screws? Hire someone to stand there and hold it?

I have installed entry doors, worked with drywall, done electrical work, and now am attempting to install a garage door. I have never done anything with a garage door and I have a person who wants me to install one for them. I would have to take the whole door off and replace it with a brand new one. I do not want to charge them too much, but still do not want to charge less then it's worth.

The cement floors have been painted many times, but the paint just flakes off making it look worse than before. The floors are dirty from years of camp use and are often damp from leaking roofs and poor construction. The floors are hard to get at because of the bunk beds which cannot be moved. It's a long building with many rooms so the task seems overwhelming. The camp is suffering because no one wants to have their kids stay in such an ugly looking dorm. The camp also has very little money, but does have many willing volunteers. Thanks for any advice. Help me save this wonderful camp!

The heater was installed in my crawl space which happens to also be the lowest point in the house. This spring has brought a lot of rain with it and it collects at the base. This causes the pilot to shut off automatically. In the past it has been a sinch to relite it and move on wih life but this last time it has not cooperated. As I said the pilot light lites buut then after a short amount of time it sputters out. If I turn the main line on right away it sputters and goes out quickly. Help please, there is no hot water in my house and this means that I am going to be living with four stinky kids and a mad wife soon.

I found this really nice leather briefcase in my garage, but one of the clasps is locked, and I have no idea what the combo is. The other clasp was open when I found it, and the combo was set to 0-0-0, but that didn't work on the other one. I really want to use it, but I would prefer not to have to break it to get it open. Is there someplace I can take it that could open it without breaking it? If I can't open it, I guess I'll have to break the lock. I guess it doesn't really matter if it's broken, as I'll be using it to keep my electric guitar pedals and stuff in, but it would be nicer if it were not broken.

My old disposal had a key that you put in the bottom and turn it to free the spinning blades when they were stuck. I can't find that on this one. How am I supposed to clear a jam? It is stuck but I don't see any bottle cap or anything in there...

I found out that my lawnmower takes SAE 30 oil. Would it matter if the SAE 30 oil was for an automobile; for instance: if I were to get the oil from a auto part store would it matter if I were getting the oil for a lawnmower?
