Just moved into a brand new house last week. My sister was doing laundry and the next time she went in to room of the furnace and heater, the carpet was wet. We had heavy heavy amounts of rain 2 days ago, and it's been pretty cold for the past three days. Would anyone have an idea what to do?

The retaining nut will not seal against my copper pipe, thus water shoots out the back. Bought new valve, but can't get the old retaining nut off. Any suggestions? Will this be the answer?

This has happened once before and somehow I managed to close it (no trick that I remember - just a fluke), but this time I can't. It happens when I open it too wide, and then it won't shut again. I've tried pushing and pulling from above and below, but it is stuck all the way at the top. I can hear the weights still moving around inside, so they are not stuck. I'm not sure what the problem is. Any ideas? Thanks!

My kitchen sink faucet leaks when it is turned on. The water drips out of the two handles (compression sink).

Most fixes pertain to a faucet that leaks with a drip. Drip drip drip.. but mine only leaks when the water is actually turned on. This is a problem because I am hooking up portable dishwasher and washing machines to the sink, so a lot of hot water is being wasted.

I have a propane tank for my grill that's almost full, but when I hook it up to the grill, the valve to open the tank won't turn at all. How can I fix it, or where can I take it to get fixed? I took it to the gas station where they sell propane, but they had no clue.

My wall unit gas furnace comes on just fine, but only comes on for about 2-3 minutes....I'm figuring just when it warms up. At this point, it clicks and shuts off completely, pilot and everything. I've asked people and they tell me it might be the thermocouple, but everything I've found online says that only has to do with the pilot itself. Any help?

I traded a broken refer for some AC work. I had tried to replace the small chip by the compressor (selonoid?) that sometimes goes out on refers. That did not work so that's why I traded it. The gentleman who took it said the compressor was bad so he had to get rid of it. I told him that I specifically had done a check with a voltmeter and it had checked out fine. When I told him that, he said that it actually worked but it did not have/push freeon so it wasn't worth fixing. This sounded very fishy to me, but I wanted to hear from some professionals if this makes any sense. Thanks

My dining room table is a round oak parlor table - with a hand rubbed wax finish...

A few times, a hot plate was put directly on the table without a placemat and left a milky mark in the wax finish .... (damn kids - you tell them a thousand times and no one listens - haha)

Anyway - how do I rub out this white ring? Do I use solvents / paste wax? Please advise .... thanks!!

When I flush the toilet I get a loud vibrating sound from the pipes a few seconds after the toilet stops filling back up. At first it was only one of the toilets now its both. I live in a single level home and both the toilets are on the same line. I am not connected to city sewer so I have a septic tank. Any suggestions would help.
