Hi,
I am doing a gas line test. I put it at 10 PSI. 10 minutes later, it dropped 1/4 PSI. I went to every joint and sprayed soapy water on it. Not one made any bubbles. Any ideas on how I can pinpoint the leak? Thanks for your time

I have discovered my end beam in the attic is wet and crumbly in places where water must have been coming in at the chimney breast. I only noticed today that the wallpaper at the corner of the room below had gone a bit black in one corner. Is this a big job for a roofer and what would be an average price for him to charge.
I live alone and don't want to be ripped off. Thank you any advice.

I’m switching from a gas dryer to an electric dryer. I have a 50/250v receptacle that is already installed in the laundry room. (This is what it looks like) http://www.foxelectricsupply.com/Content/Media/Images/Category/eag32.jpg

Now the dryer junction box has 5 places to connect the wires. L1,L2,L3,N,Ground. Now my question is what wire goes where? The manual says to connect the red and black wire (the cable I have only has white, green, and black so I’m assuming I just replace red for green?) to the L1 and L3 connection. Next is says to connect the ground to the ground connection yet the receptacle I have isn’t grounded (I don’t think...). Should I hook the neutral (white) wire up to the N connection (It makes sense but I don’t want to risk destroying my dryer).

So if I’m right I would connect…

White (center prong on plug) > N
Green and black > L1 or L3

I DID TRY SHOE POLISH BUT THAT DIDN'T WORK AT ALL. ALSO, HAVEN'T YET TRIED A LEATHER DYE BUT IF I DO I DON'T WANT TO RUIN THE COUCH. IT DOESN'T SEEM TO ABSORB ANYTHING, I TRIED VASELINE AND OIL ETC AND THEY ALL JUST WIPE OFF. SO DON'T KNOW IF A DYE WOULD ABSORB EITHER? ANY SUGGESTIONS?

The Total Hardness in my hot tub (according to my test strip) is too high. In searching the internet it warns against having Total Hardness too low (can be corrosive to parts of the hot tub). However, I don't see what to do if my Total hardness it too high. Is it even a problem? I know to soften my home water I would add salt, but I don't know if adding salt to a hot tub would be a good idea.

I'm having to change my air filter every 2 or 3 weeks. My townhome is about 1200 square feet, but I don't understand why I have to change the filters so often. I have tried the air filters that are about $20 for one, and the cheaper ones that are $15 for 3. The $20 filter lasted about a week longer than the others, but for the cost it doesn't really add up. Home depot sells an air filter that costs $100, and it's suppose to be for 30 years or something. Anyway, what's the best air filter that I can buy?

So...I've looked in all the obvious places. Around the exterior of the home, inside the home - even in closets. When I bought the house, two home inspectors couldn't find the darn thing!

Now, I've got problems with the leveling the floors and frozen pipes. It would be beneficial to have a crawl space - but a coworker told me that I might not even have one. Have you heard of a home w/o a crawl space? My home is about 100 years old. How will I go about fixing my house problems with no access to a crawl space or basement?
