So...I've looked in all the obvious places. Around the exterior of the home, inside the home - even in closets. When I bought the house, two home inspectors couldn't find the darn thing!

Now, I've got problems with the leveling the floors and frozen pipes. It would be beneficial to have a crawl space - but a coworker told me that I might not even have one. Have you heard of a home w/o a crawl space? My home is about 100 years old. How will I go about fixing my house problems with no access to a crawl space or basement?

If you have concrete floors you don't have a crawl space and there are millions of homes built on slabs. Go to where your main water shutoff is and if the line comes up through concrete you do not have a crawl space. If your water lines are in the floor you will either tear up the floor (hard) or run new lines in the walls (relatively simple).

If your house has a crawl space it may have no depth and be inaccessible to do any kind of repairs without tearing up the floor and digging it out. That may very well be why there is no access.

While part of the charm of a 100 yr old house is its quirks, if the floors are unbearable, expect a mega bucks outlay to fix them.

Piece of plywood and a few liquid nails could do it for now. toughest section would be finding a thank you to hold it there until the glues set up. warm glue might artwork extra useful. perchance you are able to prop something against it for an afternoon or so. be sure you positioned some rat poison in there first to be sure you get em good.

You may not have one. I have a friend whose house doesn't have a crawl space. At first we didn't think it was possible either, but it's true, some houses don't have them.
