4" concrete holds 3000 lbs per sq ft.....sounds like alot but not thick enough.....5 K weight sounds like a lot for a hot tub, but if it is that then do this:
make a level area where spa will go....form up a 2x4 box 8x8....from the top of the 2x4 form dig down along the inside of the form 8 inches and 12 inches over toward the middle.....all the way around the inside of the form.....then remove 4 inches of the rest of the earth.......this will give u a slab with a footer long the outside.....for good measure u can dig another another 8x12 (like before) down the middle.....this will give u a great foundation for ur spa.......will take about 1 1/4 yds....

Four inches thick would be enough, but it's usually a good idea to go thicker than required, so I'd say six inches would be more than enough. A yard of concrete will cover 54 sq.ft six inches thick. You need 64 sq.ft, so a yard and half will be plenty. You also need to consider the base. It's just as important as the concrete itself. If it's not well compacted, it doesn't matter how thick the concrete is, with that much weight, it will eventually settle and crack.

6" thick will work. Go with at least a 3500 lb mix. If you put wire mesh in the slab, it will have to be electrically bonded, so consider using a fibered mix, with fibers already in it, instead of wire mesh. Have a minimum 4" of 2B stone below the concrete.

6 inches thick. order a yard and a half. Some ready-mix plants have a 3 yard minimum. If so maybe use all three yards and make it bigger. You should also consider pouring it exposed aggregate for a rougher texture. less slippage getting in and out. good luck.

I would go to the local concrete company and tell them what you are doing. They will tell you exactly how thick it should be and how much you will need.

put in a stone base that is larger than your pad, say 10x10 and at least 4 in. deep . form it up with 2x6's and order a yard and a half with fiber. pour it, trowel it, cover it. give it a couple of weeks before setting hot tub
